Gaming moments you wish you'd caught on video

Starcraft Diplomacy Gold 7.7(Not the greatest map but was awesome).

I was italy, I had done a quick drop on Syria but someone eventually took it away from me early one. I took spain and england. It was a 4 person FFA map. One player err wasn't reallying doing anything. Red took Czech. I took out him. The other player who had taken my Syria now had 300 men. I had 150.

Through smart dropping and smart battlefield tactics I threw this around to me having 300 and him having 150.

Just the tactics and strategy I used were so top level that day. Was amazing.

Another one in Cs 1.6 on I forgot the maps name off hand. Anyway I was counter terrorist. My buddy was alone and had 3 men all shooting at him. He was basically taking cover behind a box, they easily had him trapped. All of the sudden I come down threw a vent, land and kill a guy immediately and took cover. We then easily took on the two others. Cole to the rescue.

Then once in Rome: Total War I took carthage. I just went and dominated Rome in a quick pass. I had about 1500 men left there. It took them over 10 hattles(striaght) to finally take it away from me. They were hitting me with 2500 men and such. I mean by the 4th battle I was bored and sent all my troops outside of the gates and i still demolished them.

A thousand other momments in Starcraft. However in Starcraft you can save replays :). So yes I had saved many of those momments..not sure if I still have most of them.

Right. You know the mission in GTA:SA where you have to go look for this journalist guy or something in a wooden chalet near that gigantic mountain, right? Well, I thought the chalet was ON the mountain, and I felt like improving my BMX skillz so I drove all the way up to the top with it. Once there, I realized it was lower (maybe it was hidden?). I started driving but soon saw that the only way down was a very, very, VERY long fall (12 seconds or so). I slipped and accidentally went right down.

So yeah, I'm falling. Suddenly, the mission explanation begins. "There are guards here and here, and you will have to be very sneaky or they will sound an alarm." I'm thinking "Right, I'll just land right in the bushes."
Wrong. When I get switched back to my char, he's picked up terminaly velocity and you could see the screen get blurred because of the extremely high speed. After a few more seconds, I can start to see through the clouds and notice the ground. "Oh shit," I think, "I'm going to die when I hit the ground :(".

Suddenly, a guard moves RIGHT into my trajectory. I land RIGHT on top of him, killing him instantly, and taking all my fall damage (leaving me with none :D). I get off the bmx and take other guards. But only after I had unpauzed the game when I had crawled back onto my chair, still laughing from the biggest ROFL I have ever, ever had.

The worst thing is that just after I did that mission, I read about Rockstar's "cool videos and win prizes" competition, specifically about GTA:SA. I would have won 1st prize for sure if I had that on video. Absolutely epic.

I've got a few.

One time in Max Payne 2 Dead Man Walking (Manor Yard) I survived 46 minutes. No cheats, no mods, nothing...46 minutes. I didn't even want to play that long! And half that time I had half a head full of health and no grenades/Molotov's...

In America's Army, I was playing the very underrated Tunnels map. The game play on this map can either be real quick or real drawn out as the two teams are quite literally right next to each other. Based on the previous rounds, I went to go take position in a vent over looking the gap in the wall between the spawns. Well, as I'm getting in, my entire team is wiped out in literally in a couple minutes. So I get in the vent and notice I'm the only one left and I have to reach the objective. Now, I don't know how I did it, but I took down 8 clan members, the ENTIRE team, slowly pushing my way to the extraction point. I remember vividly that picking off the first 3 wasn't that bad, they were pretty much scattered looking for me. The last 5 were in the tunnels below. I had to play a very psychological game, shooting some rounds in one end and circling round and out flanking. After taking two or three down in long drawn out cat and mouse fire fights, and the timer nearly over, I threw some smoke down and (red mind you) shot my way to the objective. Taking 8 guys out in AA is not an easy thing to do.

My last moment that comes to mind was in Rome Total War. It is one of the best gaming moments for shear fun and immersion as well. Basically, my expeditionary Roman army that was coming up through Spain into Gaul was, although victorious, being whittled away and in dire need of reinforcements. Thus I landed a fresh legion to save my Iberian veterans. As soon as landing, this army of about 1000 (legionaries, archers, few calvary, a general, and a catapult) stumbled a similarly sized Gaulish horde. The army pursued them, but they fled. When my turn was up, that army had stopped in the middle of the entire Gaulish military. 3000 vs 1000, in winter, with no defensible terrain (just forests) and completely surrounded by a sea of Gaulish warriors. I expected a massacre.

So I position my army in a long line against the right most boundary, in a forest along a road so that my catapults could fire. I did not realize at the time, but this severally limited my ability to view and direct the battle, the trees blocked everything.

So the battle commences. The first 1000 man army reaches the lines first. Of course they are whipped out against the superior troops and missile units, but they drain all my arrows, spears, catapults, etc. and weaken my flanks.

Just as they are defeated, both of the remaining armies arrive, enveloping my forces. What follows was the most desperate fight I have ever directed. With the trees blocking my view, I had the camera zoomed in fully and was forced to move troops this way. My calvary was constantly back and forth defending my flanks. The critical moment came when the faction leader himself came diving into my weakest spot of my line (where the front began to curve into the flank). Just in time I sent my archers into the breach and they managed to kill the King. Just then all of them routed! The battle was going their way, and I stood there and watched them all rout until I realized now was my chance to finish them all off.

I can't really describe it, but it was amazing.

I land RIGHT on top of him, killing him instantly, and taking all my fall damage (leaving me with none :D).

Oh, man, shit, that's possible? Man, that's amazing... crazy... I didn't even know you could do that. :O

BF2.

On Oman, some MEC guy got aboard the carrier and jacked our heli. For some reason, He thought it would be smart to go straight up, out of bounds, and the timer eventually got him. I could see the icon twirling around on the mini map, and I got tired of waiting for it to just crash, so I hopped into the blackhawk and headed after it. After gaining a few thousand feet on it, I performed the most awesomely insane skydive ever, jumping out and falling for like 10 seconds before landing straight on the cockpit of the spiraling heli. What's even more awesome is that this guy on my team was watching the whole thing, from the carrier deck. When I landed to pick him up, he was like "holy shit" and I was all like "sorry, lost the blackhawk".

Mario 64. Playing the level before the last Bowser. I'm trying to collect all 6 red coins, yet I'm at the top, at the end, the wind platform near the pipe. I'm really frustrated I haven't found the sixth.

I go into first person Mario cam, and look down. Way at the bottom, almost at the start of the level, I spot the coin sticking out of a tiny hidden platform. We're talking a 2x2 foot platform. I figure, 'What the hell,' so I jump. I fall for god knows how long, adjusting ever so slightly the fall. I land RIGHT on the coin. I couldn't believe it.

Yesterday while playing Half Life 2 again, I shot a flying crow at Water Hazard level, that moment was ****ing awesome.

Top moments are BF2, mainly because of the competitive nature of online games makes it feel more rewarding when you perform something ridiculous.

Having invested in xxx amount of hours in the attack helicopter, I became pretty damn proficient at it. And as anyone could tell you, BF2 is chock-loaded with complete idiots and morons who don't know their foot from their ass. As such, I learned to rely on myself for both flying the attack heli and gunning it.

The highlight of my BF2 days would be the three times I've managed to shoot down jets while flying by myself in the attack helicopter with TV missiles (not counting the numerous times I've done it as just a gunner... far easier :p). I managed to record two on video but I missed one - my first one - and I regret not having FRAPS on. :( It's by far the hardest maneuver I've pulled in any of the games I've played.

Come to think of it, I think I still have that video on youtube... just search hl2.net :)

Those two don't count then, because you caught them on video! :D

My moment I missed recording was an intense battle in Planetside. Picture about 40 Terran Republic in misc. bombers, aircraft, fighters etc. and another 130 on the ground rolling tanks, walkers, Support bases... then picture them against about 170 Vanu Sovereignity bastards. I'm in a heavy assault fighter, I afterburner ahead of the main pack - and suddenly half of the VS ground forces suddenly open fire. ON ME.

I spent a good 5 minutes dodging and swirling around while furiously pounding rockets into mechs and shit before I heard the missile lock sound, ejected, landed on a tree and got hit by a downed enemy Wasp. > >

In a round of Counter-strike source, I wiped out ten people in Italy with my shotgun and a grenade. That was sweet, the accusations of hacking was also hilarious.

**** you, Terran barbarian. Technology Equals Might!

When i was playing c&c generals 2 v 2 online with a couple of friends, the two that is was playing against decided it was fun to launch a nuclear missile and a scud storm at my base at he same time, deadly and beautiful at the same time

Just a few hours ago I was playing San Andreas, and finished the mission for Big Smoke where you have to chase down the gang member. I was on foot near the train tracks and there were 2 cars full of ballas there and they were shooting at me. Then the train comes out like a guardian angel and...takes care of them.

Speaking of Big Smoke and the trains on SA, when I was doing the mission where Big Smoke is on the back of your bike trying to gun down the guys on the train carriage for like the 20th time, as we came out into the countryside after the tunnel theres a slope that leads up to a bridge. I was pelting along afer the train, trying to catch up, theres two guys left on the roof, I take the slope too fast, miss the turning for the bridge and soar through the air. And at that time, the train emerges from under the bridge and I skim over the roof literally 2 inches away from the surface and the Mexican nearest to me gets a face full of tire.

We skidded off the roof after that, and inevitably, the train got away, but it was such a kickass moment.

Carmageddon 2. I was on a level with an airport, and I hit a 747 jet while it was taking off at 300 MPH, the jet cam crashing down and did 4 flips and went out of the level.

Watching my 2 friends playing Halo co-op. That was better than any comedy movie I have ever seen.

I used to be huge into competing in the PGL for Tribes 2. We were pretty closely matched. We both needed 1 more cap to win. They had our flag and i was almost back to our base with the flag but ended up getting sniped and lost the flag. They returned it and I respawned next to our flag stand. It was an open map so I was pretty pissed off at this point because I lost our flag and their team was escorting their flag carrier. They had victory secured. I began shooting random shots(with the disc launcher) by just spinning my mouse in any direction. One of them was aimed directly at their flag and after about 10 seconds I heard a ping which means I nailed a mid air shot(equivalent of a no scope headshot from really far away in halo2 ...or some other rediculously hard shot). Our team grabbed the flag and was able to make it all the way back to our base and we won the final match. I really regret that people didnt record back in those days because ir lagged some people. It was the single best shot I have ever seen...ever. It won us the game.

Some of the thing my mate did on Carmageddon yonks ago were just absultely hilarious, wish I had them on video

Me taking a gang of Siege Tanks out with those dinky Terran airfighters (the name slips me) was one of the most hilariously awesome things ever. Especially since I had like, two or three of them.

*sigh* I miss StarCraft.

Insane rocket kill in Halo PC. Map was Blood Gulch, and I took down a banshee with a random rocket from the other end of the map.

Wraiths. And yeah, they are dinky :p

Oh yeah that random rocket stuff reminds me of a scrim I had in Empires a few days ago. I fired a rocket from acros the map, aiming using my minimap (Empires is a HL2 mod with gigantic maps and vehicles and the like). Then, after like 15 seconds, my kill pops up. I was seriously like, "wtf D:"

In Vice City, my wanted meter was all the way up there, and I decided to drive my car into the ocean because I was getting tired of the current chase.

So I drove my car off the strip on the second island as fast as I could, and instead of drowning in the water, the game hit a snag and my car just froze in the middle of the water, right off the edge of the road where I had driven off.

But, what was awesome, was that I still had all my stars, and had apparently massed millions of cop cars and tanks behind me prior to going suicidal, so as my car froze in the ocean, I saw a massive wave of police cars, half-tracks, flatbeds, FBI cars, FBI vans, and tanks all fly over the edge of the road and into the water as one giant mass.

Another:

Last year whilst playing BF2 with some HL2.netters on Mashtuur, and I was the squad leader. I was sitting in my chair, with my shirt off, my hands shaking, and my lips quivering from the excitement, as we all (full HL2.net squad) ran back into the jeep at a deserted point we had just taken. We saw a tank comming in on our radar, and me driving the tank, fired up the engine and yelled into my mic "Ok, where to next?"

I had a million answers yelled back, which eventually converged into "let's move on to another point north", so I fired up the jeep and started weaving through buildings, when we suddenly turn a corner and see the tank that was on its way, right infront of us.

Instantly, everybody in the VOIP channel screamed "GO GO GO GO GO HOLY SHIT AUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHH", and I sped right past the tank, just barely grazing the treads and a nearby building, as a tank shell went off behind the jeep. We kept going with everybody yelling at me to turn here, turn there, go here, up that hill, no I have this idea, bla bla bla, with tank shells landing all over us, as I sat there still sweating, twitching, and affixed to my monitor.

Was great.

Sounds awfully familiar... :D It's moments like that that make BF2 special to me :)

I also specifically remembering a squad of us HL2.netters filled in one of those transport choppers on a map I hate (the one where the opposite bases spawned on a giant mountain and it took forever to get from point A --> point B on land...)

Anyway, the pilot decided it was cool to barrel roll nosedive into the ground. No one survived.

D:

Mashturd City. And the pilot wasn't me...

I wish I had a way to record the Pro Evo 6 match I had this morning on Xbox live. England vs. Brazil (i was england), all players on normal form. Went 5-0 down before half time, mainly because of adriano the fag lol, but i managed to get a goal from a 20 yard free kick from beckham. Went into the second half and I made the greatest come back and played the best game ever out of all the Pro Evo games.

Right from the whistle i am off, lampard swings a cross after a throwing which Gerrard headers home - 5-2

Rooney wins a penalty which Lampard converts fantastically - 5-3

Owen 1-2s with Rooney and slits the defence in half, beats the last defender and slots it past the keeper - 5-4

Dida's goal kick falls to the head of Terry who runs in from defence to over to Gerrard in the center of the pitch who slides Rooney a pin-point pass as he makes a run to the right of the penalty box. Controls the ball throwing Roberto Carlos of balance, pass back to Beckham who immediately returns the pass. Traps the ball, turns to an angle of the goal, and curls a fantastic ball into the top corner - 5-5

Went into extra time and they must have been the most tense couple of minutes of any pro evo games i have played, Robinson had to make some awsome saves to keep them out, and just seconds before the final whistle, we broke on a counter attack to which Gerrard slogged it from 30 yards out but it was tipped over the bar by Dida.

Absulute epic match, have a lot of epic goals I have scored too

was playing HL2DM, and one of my team mates was bashing me with the crowbar repeatedly for like 30 sec (keep in mind we were in a tight square room that can barely fit both of us) then the RPG spawned out of nowhere and the guy automatically switched weapons and blew himself up...I've never laughed so hard in my life, it was honestly like 20 minutes of ROTFLOLing before i resumed ...by the time i got back in my chair i was kicked out of the server for being AFK!!! LMAO!!

it was awesome, seriously, the fact that it was some n00b made it even funnier.

In CS:CZ, a week ago me and a teammate were left to finish six people in dust2. Somehow i get a feeling that they are in the tunnel, so I use a flashbang as I jump in, and in 2 seconds flat five fall to my deagle (headshots, naturally). I used a nade on the last one. There are many more such moments, but this is the most recent one.

CSS, just an hour ago, pwned majorly in dust 2 with scooner (aka scout), even got a flying headshot on some sap jumping into the pit at other end of map.

Yeeeeeah, I want to get some Dust 1 action in some time, haven't played in that place in ages.

Playing Dust1 after Dust2 justmakes it feel like quite a bad map, it's really tiny. Though I totally loved playing it 24/7 in the beta, that really increased my skill and tactics in it. Still prefer D2 though.

Once on D2, there was one CT left, and I was the last on T. I planted the bomb at A, and grabbed my main spot, which is to stand to the side of A looking diagonally at one of the houses. This allows me to see long, short, and a small amount of CT spawn (i.e. if someone jumped off short and went through the DD's to mid, I'd see them).
So I was standing there totally still, and then I got the feeling the guy would go long, so I focussed my eyes on long (still not moving though), then I saw this guy try a strafe jump into the pit. I flicked my mouse to his head and 1 click HS'd him in mid air. All the CTs accused me of cheating next round :(.
