This isn't hard launch info (that should be available March 26th) but this is speculation on what will be from VR-Zone.
Dailytech's article

They say Nvidia didn't hit their target specs so they dropped some SPs and clock speed for the cards at launch. "The intended GF100 has 512 SP clocked at 725/1450/1050MHz with 295W TDP."

GeForce GTX 480 : 480 SP, 700/1401/1848MHz core/shader/mem, 384-bit, 1536MB, 250W TDP, US$499

GeForce GTX 470 : 448 SP, 607/1215/1674MHz core/shader/mem, 320-bit, 1280MB, 225W TDP, US$349

VR-Zone said:
Internal benchmarks reveal that GeForce GTX 470 is some 5-10% faster than Radeon HD 5850 and similiar for GeForce GTX 480 over the Radeon HD 5870.
If you just compare MSRP/Nvidia marketing performance numbers to the inflated ATI street prices/ATI performance then it might look like Nvidia did OK.
But I imagine Nvidia's street prices would go up maybe more than ATI's for the same reasons. And the 5-10% numbers VR-Zone is reporting for the GTX 470 was from Nvidia internal benchmarks. Have to see about real numbers when they get reviewed. But it doesn't look so good when you bring in the other specs into the price/performance equation and the fact that it's 6 months late.

MSRP current (and launch)
5870 $399 ($379) - GTX 480 launch MSRP would be 25% higher than current ATI MSRP
5850 $299 ($259) - GTX 470 launch MSRP would be 17% higher than current ATI MSRP

TDP (max power)
5870 188 watts - GTX 480's TDP would be 33% higher
5850 151 watts - GTX 470's TDP would be 49% higher

Now ATI's launch prices went up because of lack of competition and they didn't have as good of supply as they wanted (because of TMSC). And their street prices did not go below MSRP but higher. Nvidia will have the TMSC issue even worse, probably no real supply until mid or late summer. So street prices will probably do the same while their MSRP stays. ATI may or may not lower their prices. Depends if they have excess supply and if they feel enough pressure from Nvidia to realign which models from ATI compete with which from Nvidia. But with the specs and price and lack of GTX cards on the shelf idk about that.

Obviously we must wait for reviews since they will show what is more important. Power during games, performance under the games we play and resolutions. And by then we should be able to see street prices (although probably not in stock).

With Nvidia having a bit better performance, this should push ATi on the 59xx series (so they aren't bested), and keep prices of the 58xx series in check. I think.

Well since these cards are late it is nice for ATI that their scheduled refresh is not far off.

When would that be, September or so? I am probably gonna upgrade in the near future and I am not sure yet if I am gonna go for Nvidia or Ati.

It seems people are speculating about refresh scenarios vs new gen "northern islands". A speed bump is most likely on the same process, like 4870 to 4890 was. Nothing on dates but I'd expect fall for a speed bumped card.

MSI is coming out with a card with better PWMs soon. Maybe reaching 1ghz core? Not an ATI part but an OCed 5870 from MSI. The expected OCed cards months after release.

For Nvidia, I've heard March 26th won't have reviews but the 29th will.

I'd make sure to check the reviews. 5-10% is a general number. We will have to see what games and resolutions make the GTX 400 cards soar and where ATI comes out even.

Well this has me interested again. Not a bad price, assuming the performance is a significant step up from the radeon 5800 series. I thought this card would be more, like in the $450 range, with the 480 being even higher than it is.

The 59xx series has already been out for a while, and are better than these coming nvidia cards, so ATI will keep the lead even after nvidia releases these. Only problem is that the 59 series is expensive as ****, but that SHOULD go down once nvidias GTX 400s comes out.

(sorry if im missunderstanding your post btw)

Yeah, I've seen it listed for sale, but I've never actually seen it in stock. What I meant was push them to produce more. This will lower the price in two ways - short and long term.

Newegg lists 5 of them, all out of stock (and starting at $700): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...BESTMATCH&Description=5970+video+card&x=0&y=0

I'm going to go ahead and assume you're pulling this 'information' out of your ass, unless you're willing to provide some kind of source for this claim. As far as I know, there has been no information of any official capacity on the performance of these new cards.

Another benchmark of 10.3 Catalyst drivers

from the last page:
During our conversation with AMD this morning, we also got a heads up that in the next few days an ATI Crossfire profile update is in the works for Battlefield2: Bad Company that will increase performance by up to 75%!

"We are also getting ready an Crossfire profile update ready to post in the next few days that will improve performance even more. For example rumor has it that Battlefield2: Bad Company will see an FPS increase from 40 to 70" AMD PR

The demo was being run on a triple SLI config for CES2010. I bet the detail and physics would not be as high with a single card config.
Videos of demo
The first video shows what looks like the computer crashing (end of the video).

For ATI's claims about performance increases from the driver update, I wonder if the improvement from 40 to 70 FPS with crossfire in that game is because crossfire didn't get along with it in the first place.

Absolutely, Asus. You aren't likely to get 75% more performance from some driver tweaks. Something wasn't working right; I agree.

I'm guessing the NDA doesn't get lifted for another few hours.

Nvidia in the past has given reviewers who are more sensationalist to publish first. We will have to see if those who are first to publish are overly positive compared to Anandtech etc.

Hexus had a review up (of the GTX 480, no 470 in the review) but their server crashed or something and it got taken down. Not sure if they meant for it to be up.
Someone grabbed SS though.

About on par with the 5870 in some games - but nearly equivalent to the 5970 in others!

I'm happy to see it perform well in DX11, even with the initial drivers.

Think ATI will drop prices now? :D
I guess we still have to wait for the NDA to lift. Make sure the other reviews from trusted sites match up.

Your guess is better than mine, bro. I hope so.

That's true too. BTW, good find on the screenshots. I was looking for the results only minutes before you posted and was disappointed to find they hadn't posted anything.

The 5970 does considerably better at BC2. Roughly ~20 fps better.

Odd how the GTX480 performs slightly worse than the GTX295 in BC2. But they're both still better than the 5870, which is good news for ATI price drops I'd say.
