What is Ghetto All-Stars: Crunk Rally?
In a sentence, Need For Speed meets Pimp My Ride. The exact game mechanics have yet to be sketched out, but the mod is a racing game with a twist, a'la games such as Gran Turismo. Each player earns money after each race, which he can then use to upgrade his vehicle and stay competitive. Anything from superchargers, exhaust, and nitrous systems, to body kits, spinning rims, and hydraulics.

Wait, spinners and hydraulics?
Yes, spinners and hydraulics. There are a lot of mods out there that have stone-solid, serious backstories and grim settings, and there needs to be a bit of a change of pace. GASCR is all about having fun and having a laugh.

How does the gameplay work?
Let's pretend you are on a server with 5 players, including yourself. This server has the maximum number of racers set to 3, and the laps per race to 2.

The first 3 players in the server are the first ones to start a race, and similar to the mod Ricochet, the other 2 players are put in a Spectator Mode "waiting list". After the racers have completed their 2 laps, they are awarded their money (depending on where they ranked, and how fast they completed the course) and are put into the waiting list as well. Then, the next 3 racers - one of which being one of the previous racers - will be lined up, and so on.

When a player is in spectator mode, or if they opt out of a race, they can buy upgrades for their car. Some upgrades increase your car's speed or improve their handling, while other cosmetic upgrades add to a "style bonus" that is added on to your final score after a race. If you have the pimpin-ist car on the track, then you will be awarded the most style points.

Sounds cool, how can I help?
Right now, we desperately need a programmer who is familiar with vehicle coding. This is our absolute basic need, as we don't have much of a racing game without functional vehicles.

Modelers would also be appreciated, mainly to model the cars and their add-ons. Character/organic modeling is not necessarily needed, but high-quality work will not be turned down.

Mappers also will not be turned away, but the more impressive the better. We are looking for map quality to rival racing games such as the Gran Turismo and Need For Speed series. A firm grasp of the Source Input/Output system will also be a deffinate plus.

This is actually a pretty original idea, and I salute you for it. I'd help with things if I could, but I can barely map as it is, and I'm sure you don't need a writer/verbal conceptor.

Also, I'm Stick McBeth on HL2World if you care about that.

This mod deserves more attention, I swear.

Slowly but surely. :) The domain should be working now, and the site will hopefully be up within the week. As soon as we get a programmer, we should be ready to rock.
 
I loved Gran Turismo, Make it like that, With some Old Muscle cars, Im in BOOYAH! Also make some Vehical Damage and Abilities to Crash flip and BURN! OHHH YEAH I LOVE CRASHES!
 
The final layout of the site just went live with a "Coming Soon" line, and the whole shebang should be up and running within the next few days.

The Escalade and Supra models are also nearing completion, however we are seeking an experienced UV Unwrapper / Skinner to unwrap the models. Actual skinning experienced would be a plus, but not necessary as we have someone who can do this.

As for the trees having spinners, the new spinner model will be coming soon. ;)
 
The site is up and active, and the pages will soon be filling up with content. We are going to go public to all the major websites sometime next week, when we get some new renders of the current models.
 
That website is a big ****ing win for not throwing flash all over your face. And it's easy to navigate.

So, want a killbox racing map? :D

Thanks. :) We're still working on putting content in it (as I'm sure you can see), but it is coming together nicely. As I've said, we are planning on going public in the next week or two, once we get some more finalized renders of the models.

Right now all of the "accessories" for a car are made up. We don't plan on having specifically named parts or manufacturers, mainly to avoid copyright issues. As far as styles and designs, we are all looking for different designs and picking the best, or combining styles.
