I'm on the power up level in Half-Life 1, and I'm trying to get the Gargantua to follow me through the door so I can press the button to kill it, but that door isn't open...

I tried searching, but didn't find many results. Can someone help me?

There is an area where you have to activate the power, im not entirely sure where but its near the area where you open the door when you push the button once the power is active, i think you have to do a jump to another ledge, but a walkthrough can help better than me.

The things I've done:

Broke the boxes jamming the pump.
Went up the stairs and activated the power generator.
Flipped the switch thing where the dying body guard is to move the train track where Gargantua is.

I've killed and explored everything, besides Gargantua, but that door won't open.

You've got to go into the basement WAY below that area and turn on the power to the generator by breaking the bos holding it

I did that. I said I broke the boxes jamming the pump. Then all the water drained.

Sounds like a trigger error... Verify game cache, and come back with results.

Wait, did you go into the control room and press the left side button? If not, then the power won't be on.

Yeah, that's the one I pressed.

How do I verify the game cache?

Finally, I didn't bother turning on the Power Generator, the button above the pump, and it worked.

I think granades could get the job done, but I saw another glitch- when the small elevator goes up or down I just can't move when the train stops, so I had to jump when it's still moving.

I think he's referring to the glitch that occurs in the GoldSource version of the game (as in, the original) where you get stuck on elevators sometimes, usually when it comes to a halt at the top or bottom of the shaft. You avoid getting stuck by jumping as the elevator stops.

Sometimes, you just get stuck. Other times, you get gibbed. o_O

As an absolute last resort, you can see if you can get to the barricade you smash the train through, and arrange a few trip-mines on it, to make stepping stones so you can jump over. Means proceeding without the train in On A Rail, which is pretty much what you do anyway.

I remember the same thing happening to me. What i did is i just replayed the level a couple times and the problem went away. If that dosent work, you can just no clip past the barricade, or you can just load up the map by going into the console and typing in "map "name of mape"" (sorry but forgot what the map is called. Another thing is, you can use trip-mines. Stack those up on the barricade so that you can use them as stepping stones, and climb over the barricade. Hope i helped.

This happened to me on my very first playthrough those long years ago. I was all "wtf, I did everything!"

I decided to let the Gargantie kill me.

Then it worked somehow.

:\

I had the same problem :-/ What i did was to kill the big monster with a few grenades i threw from the track control room. Then i ran to the big grey stone wall in the room where the monster was and put 2 trip-mines and jumped on top of those and then over the wall. This is difficult, but it will get you to the next chapter. I hope this will help :-)
