I remember during Dr. Breen's Nova Prospekt speech, that there was something that eluded him being in coherts with the gman.

Dr. Breen:

"I have good reason to believe that in the intervening years, he was in a state that precluded further development of covert skills."

So, how would Breen know about Gordon's stasis unless he had contacts with the gman?. Just a theory.

Obviously they must be in cahoots :)

Nice catch. I haven't even gotten near the end of hl2 so I can't say anything yet. Interesting thought though.

No, theyre not.

Breen has simply recieved word from his benefactors on the stasis of gordon freeman, i am most certain they about him

Err...he saw him at the start, he got teleported into his office?!

So he knew he was out there!

Yeah…. That’s not what’s being discussed here. The question is why Breen “has good reason to believe that in the intervening years, he was in a state that precluded further development of covert skills." In other words the time between hl1 and hl2...
I agree that his benefactors might know a lot about those kinds of things…

He also mentions Gordon's contract being open to the highest bidder...so if the combine or Breen knew about the G-man, why didn't they try to hire Freeman themselves at the start?

Yeah..If you think about it, the g-man said he was going to offer Gordon "services to other people." In HL2, who was Gordon "working for"?

who was Gordon "working for"?

The resistance? Not so far fetched if you look at the facts. HEV Suit? Odessa? Kliener/barney expecting gordon?

They did have the chance, and thought it would be best freeman was dealt with immediatly

All that quote states is that he was not learning covert skills, or another form of military training. It didnt say he was being kept in stasis or anything. But yup, Gordon is G-Man's whore... but I think that G-Man has some of the same goals that Gordon does.

“A state that precluded further development of convert skills.” Key word here is “state.” I think this quote heavily alludes to Gordon being in some kind of stasis.

Breen just knows of the G-Mans existance and what he does, and therfore Gordon's role as his lapdog.

Wouldn't be surprised if in the next game we start off working for the Combine.

That would be an idea for an expansion, Scapegoat.

If HL1 had an expansion for the military then why not the combine? They are basically the same thing?

guys, try to see this in the context of the game.

breen is talking PROPAGANDA here. he is talking about how gordon CAN NOT BE A SAVIOUR.

it's sarcasm.

i mean, just read the text and listen to the way he says it!

"he is a SCIENTIST, not a secret agent or something like that.and i don't believe he would have had the opportunity to develop some covert skills during the time of his absence.Do you? *wink wink sarcasm wink*"

you missed one thing: CROWBAR!

and Barney says that he allmost gave Gordon up for dead, so that kind of throws that out.

I don't think that the Resistance hired Gordon *themselves.* I think that someone who wants the Combine dead badly hired Gordon, and the work on Earth is just a first step.

Maybe I misunderstand the term, but that isn't sarcasm. Well, maybe the way you dociliy put it, but not how Breen states it. In m perception, Breen was completely serious in his entire speech.

Point, Point, Point...

Breen tells you that your services are up for sale to the highest bidder. The Gman tells you as such at the ending, in his little speech. "I have recieved some interesting offers..."

So...

The Gman makes it known that one Gordon Freeman's Services are up for sale, to the highest bidder. (except Combine, because i subscribe to that theory). Breen (Or, more likely, his advisors) note this down, and, not knowing about the simple suspension in time and space, decide that he's been hired and turned into a secret agent. Instead of a theoretical scientist with a mission.
