Gordon is his secrect identity, he is really a super hero... I mean think about it, he's a friggen scientist, yet he can go 1 on 1 with an alien army and win? I thought scientists were nerds!!!
P.S. Im just joshing here, Gordon rocks, but WHY is he so skilled?

Jesus Christ... This place is dieing... More and more topics like thsi spring up, and they all turn into 6+ pagers... The hype for HL2 is gone once again...

hmm... I didn't think the suit was THAT powerful, but apparently so. Thx for anwsering my question, but it is still up for discussion!
 
WTH do you think was in all the head crabs. Obviously the Scientists got addicted and just put the Cocaine source on their heads. After a long while the become zombies from staying awake sniffin that crack.
 
The HEV suit is power armour, so it augments Gordon's strength, speed and other bodily functions as well as providing protection.
 
Not ALL scientists are weaklings.

Remember the part in the HL intro about the Black Mesa decathalon?

the HEV suit improved his accuracy.
Did he always have a helmet on ? that would explain why the headcrabs didn't attach to him.
 
I think he is skilled cuz he played many and many and many FPS games when he was child :cheese:

He is as skilled as the nerd controlling him. In my case, he's a dipshit that can't even kick it with cheats but hell thats just life ... pff
 
decathalon = athletic event composed of 10 different competitions. I don't remember them all--probably biking, swimming, shooting, etc.

Dude, just because a guy is smart, doesn't mean he can't kick your ass! Maybe Gordon went to a shooting range alot during his freetime or something :)

Gordon is supposed to be you, you are all nerds, you feel special playing a kickass nerd...

think about this; how many people have you seen around that look like gordon...because iv'e seen like 203923349583450 he is just supposed to be your regular "x" guy... typical sci/comp geek who happens to save the world... it's really a genious way to handle a pc game protagonist... he is YOU
 
The simple reason he rules is because YOU are Gordon Freeman, which means that you could also survive hopeless situations if you had an HEV! ::Puts HEV suit on, runs to Iraq::
 
Wouldn't be very fun if you couldn't even shoot a gun becuase you are a nerd...

I agree, give me a HEV suite and magnum and I will crouchwalk around bagdad and destroy every frigging recitence.
 
uhh you are gordon. you are a gamer who is good at fps and killing. i don't recall doing much "science" stuff as gordon, well when you screwed things up bigtime causing a cascade so thats kinda sciency. gordan = you = good at killing < not good at science.

gay people are funny because they leave more girls for the straight people.
 
But... it wasn't gordon's fault... The whole facility was in disrepair, and the scientists weren't doing thier jobs reporting all the anomolious. It was prabably the G-man making sure it would happen for his own personal gain, you see him at least twice in the beginning... yelling at people. At least the same model.
 
1) He is an MIT grad (that covers the brains + strat)
2) He works at Black Mesa (that covers the training of basic firearms + HEV training)
3) He is only 28 (that covers the physical strength)
 
If I am Gordon in the game and I'm a superhero in real life, then that makes Gordon a superhero too! This thread has fulfilled its purposed!! Woo... :bounce:

The thing behind why Gordon is so kick ass hero has something to do with following:

- Gordon doesn't wear a helmet, so he's l337.
- Gordon doesn't have any family ties and doesn't care about being shot.
- Gordon has a crowbar.
- Gordon isn't you.
- Gordon consisted of polygons which the soldiers didn't know.
 
I think that gordon was just a natural born killer, given these insane weapon skills by a harsh upbringing on the hard streets of the bronx. hey, you never hear his voice, right?? so YOU dont know he doesnt speak in street slang! i bet he oft thought to himself "deez punk-ass bitches gon' be catchin slugs from ma gat if dey don' be steppin off, foo".

also, someone mentioned he was Employee of the month, but he hadn't been working at Black Mesa for a month before the resonance cascade! it was like his first day or something, so he must have made a REAL good impression with the administrator...
