In Half-Life, if you check out Gordon's locker in the Blackmesa Research facility, near the start, you'll notice a few things: two books, which I haven't bothered to look up (if they're real), and a picture...of a baby. So...is this Gordy's kid? Maybe this'll rear its head in HL2 (or 3?). Just something to ponder, if it hasn't been already.

It is one of the developers kids. This has been brought up before in another thread.

If it was gordons kid, which it isnt, i think that would be a terrible plot twist.

The books are marc laidlaws books, dont you think, that due to the fact that almost everyone has played hl, would have noticed this?

As matter of fact, if it was Gordon´s kid, HL2 would be all like Sunset Beach! What a major f00k-up

Hope it isn't I can imagine a really crappy twist like Barney is his long lost son or something completly stupid.

Maybe Alyx is his long lost daughter.
Maybe Barney is his former neighbour's dog's nephew.
Maybe Dr.Breen is his FATHER!?
Breen: "Gordon! I am your father.. And it's safer here.."
G-Man: " Gordon! I am your mother.. I smell ..... ashes. You been smoking again aye?"

Let's thank God I didn't make the HL2-story.. Could have been cool though. "Half-Life 2's days of our lives"

Maybe he's just wierd and puts pictures of himself as a baby in his locker

BARNEY: Is that your kid Mr. Freeman?

GORDON: No

BARNEY: WHo's is it then?

GORDON: Beats me

*Barney backs away slowly*

lol funny

Besides from the fact it means nothing, it could've been his nephew or niece.

A more interesting fact is that after the cascade, the stuff in the locker looks like someone went searching through it. Some things are knocked on the floor.

That or it could have been knocked over by the explosions. I like your idea though.

Maybe, but someone also puts a shiney new HEV battery pack in there too, and his post-it notes are stolen. :P

The HEV battery was there before. But I think if you pick it up it appears again after the incident.

I've got a mental image of this thief that steals post-it notes and replaces them with batteries. It's a weird mental image.

Post-it note/battery fairy, you mean.

I think, in terms of narrative causility, the picture is Freeman himself as a wickle baby. That would be my excuse if I was Valve. And the books are all by Marc Laidlaw, yada yada yada. I'm getting the strangest sense of deja vu.

He bought a new picture frame and that was the default placeholder picture that came in it.

Simple.

Not my idea though- someone said it before, resaid it because it easily dismisses it (as I know it's a developers kid, but for canon reasons this gets it out of the way)

The thing with the battery is: if the player hasn't picked up the battery when he gets the suit, the battery still needs to be there after the disaster. If the player did pick up the battery, there's no way to "delete" it from the after-disaster map. It's a slight inconsistency, all due to technical reasons.

Well, if the player never got it before the cascade, he wouldn't know it was ever there in the first place. So if it was missing when he came back the second time it wouldn't affect anything.

I got it!

Alyx is Gordon's daughter, and eli took her in when freeman was missing in the years between HL and HL2 :P

Gordon has no dependants according to the Half-Life manual.
