I'm hoping everyone will post all the cool things they've figured out using the gravity gun here, hopefully get this puppy stickied. I'll start with tips i've already found:
Best Grav Jump explanation, from Rail0r:
find something that acts as a good see-saw, or dense object, like a filer or a car. Stand a few feet away from the edge of the object, run towards the nearest edge with the sprint key then before you fall off the edge, shoot directly down with the manipulator and jump at the same time you fire (while still holding sprint) Hope this clears it up. Try experimenting with the jump/fire delay, like Quake rocket jumping, it depends how you fly through the air.
(maybe someone could make that clearer - do you have to be on top of the object when you jump, and do you just click left mouse to shoot it and jump, or do you have to click right mouse first then quickly left mouse to jump? Is there a right/left quick click or not? )
this guy palehorse864 from the steam forums knows his grav gun. he's a real visionary check out the whole thread here: Palehorse864 & the future of the grav gun
palehorse864 points out great potential for the grav gun like blocking, core grabbing (blocking shots), weapon/powerup trading (launch health to a wounded buddy across the map), launching grenades, stealing weapons/objects before they're picked up, grabbing weapons/health from a distance. build covers, barriers, blockades. This weapon is the begining of a new world of fps gaming, in my opinion. BUT PLEASE THIS IS NOT A THREAD ABOUT WHETHER THE GRAV GUN SUCKS OR NOT. STRICTLY HINTS AND TIPS. Maybe i just covered them all, and those are all self explanatory, but if you got something, post it here. Lets not go the direction of this thread which tries to first explain grav jump but turns into a grammar arguement. typical.
CATCHING QUESTION: if you hold down the right mouse when someone throws something at you, can you catch it if it suddenly lands in the reticle? or do you have to get the object in the reticle, then click right mouse????
