i just started the game and im impressed...this game is much smoother then half life 2....i liked where u had to use the grabber to figure out puzzles in the beginning of the game....nice touch i thought....i hope grabber is the right word for that weapon

Glad you enjoyed it! Alot of people coin Undue Alarm as their favourite chapter, simply because of the atmosphere and level design. The Gravity gun was used to great effect and from the sound of things you'll enjoy it's presence in the second chapter as well..

I personally have no problem with "grabber." Of course, there's the problem that Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil used the name "grabber" for their weapon that some see as a cheap ripoff of Half-life 2's "gravity gun" or "zero-point energy field manipulator."

Anyways, Episode 1 is awesome. I don't mind that it's a little on the short side.

Resurrection of Evil: ID's idea of "Hey, look let's throw various features from other games that we didn't think of, I mean no we had the idea first not Valve Valve sux0rs."

episode 1 was the shit... crapping my pants wating for episode 2... i think im gonna explode.

I' still playing Lowlife, after finishing the game thrice ;( :E

I agree, the hospital level was great. Also, Lowlife's elevator fight made me feel exactly as I should:

"Oh geeze, when is that elevator coming? AHH! ZOMBINE WITH GRENADE! *Whew* elevators here! So long suckas!

episode 2 is going to be much better... now doesn't THAT make you happy?

So I haven't even played Episode 1 yet...but it sure seems worth it I guess from everyone's comments! Looksl ike I have a new way to spend a small amount of money this weekend!! Thanks!

You should be ashamed of yourself!

yep.....the level design in episode one is great!
As with most valve games......

Yeah, people's criticism that Ep1 was too short totally misses the point that in those few hours there's more atmosphere tension and satisfaction than is in a lot of other, full-length games.

I've played it once and I'd like to play it again but then I remember there's Alyx. I just dont enjoy her company that much. And she's got huge calves by the way.

For my money (my very very hard-earned money) Alyx is one of the best people who isn't actually real i've ever seen in a videogame.

You're both wrong, Tao is a character in Mysterious Cities of Gold, the best cartoon of the '80s and my favourite cartoon character of all time.

Why else do you think he's my avatar? And my username?

The hell does huge calves have to do with anything? Especially when they are not huge :|

Anyway, I was a bit unimpressed by Episode One. Didn't particulary care for the first chapter, combat was a lot more fun this time around than HL2 though so I'll give it that. And the story was better presented.

I noticed the same thing with Time Splitters: future Perfect, they had Plasma grenades from Hel... Hawl... that game, and had a 'temporal uplink' that could move objects from a distance.

Not only was gameplay improved, but the graphics were a lot better this time around. HDR was really nice, and as mentioned before (somewhere I forget where) people agreed that the critical core was one of the best graphical feats they had ever seen.
