Well i got a little interview with him, although it started out as a tech question :p

You can read it in valve info thread.

He said that with the current amount of content server it is not possible to release the remaining movies. Although they might release it to web anyways.

I just read it, that kinda sucks, I was looking forward to the strider + buggy vid :(

Well we did see some HDR movie. Which probably we're one of the 3 new movies. So it might be they just release it to fileplanet or something else.

It won't be hosted on steam in the near future though :(

Do you really blame them?

Imagine everyone trying to download movies. The content servers are pretty much on their knees right now.

I guess a Half-Life 2 demo over Steam is out of the question then.

Well they probably would've if the other content servers didn't back out. Gamestorm had like 10 servers or something probably had about 1-1,5Gbit bandwitdh in total. They day before release they shut down the servers.

Is there any info why Gamestorm did that?

I guess buying HL2 over Steam is out of the question as well.:(

Depends if they get more content servers. And remember, you'll have to pay and won't get a box so that will put some people off.

I think the demand for Half-Life 2 will be a LOT less than the demand placed on Steam over the last few days.

I think more people will download over Steam than you may realize. And Half-Life 2 will likely be 1 or 2 gigabytes versus the ~400mb that people are trying to download as of now.

I sure hope so. I plan to buy a box version, but it was nice having a Steam subscription as a backup option.

With HL2 via Steam not being free, and most people already having updated their HS & CS, the servers should be better.

I still perdict slow, but you make sense.

whats ur reasoning to think that?

besides that, i think Steam is still gonna be overloaded because everyone will be installing HL2 and getting authenticated.. and while the majority on this forum have claimed that they would clear SP before they hit MP, there are a world of users out there that don't really care for SP and really are looking forward to MP.. that means more load on the servers..

yup.. a HL2 release is gonna be nasty from a bandwidth aspect of things..

Well, if they buy Half-Life 2 at a shop they won't need to download a lot of content. It's only people who download Half-Life 2 which will cause a bandwidth problem.

The problem is not the game servers, but the content servers.

Well there's still 2 weeks till release so they can get a lot of content servers until then.

Also you have to remember that you won't download 2GB or whatever the game is. You only download what you need to start the game. And it then downloads it accordingly
