Half-Life 2 Bug List.

In the recent screens, and flanger videos all of the models seem to be 'floating' above the ground. Although this has probably been fixed by now

If there is one thing I truly like about HL2 more than anything, it's animation. The feet touch the ground perfectly in videos, and they walk very naturally - unlike other video games where they walk in a stiff way. One screenshot did show a combine soldier's foot in mid-air, but people have to realize that it's a Screenshot and that is static. Probably the soldier was in motion while the shot was taken.

You can't see Gordon's reflection in the water, I know that that would ruin alot af the game's structure, but it's still a bug.

A bug is something which in undeliberate error/mistake and could be fixed. Gordon's reflection not being shown is a design choice, hence being deliberate and therefore it can't be called a bug.

Another thing is how the explosion effects go through objects. Like when he drops the large crate and the contents explode, the smoke puff clips through the sides.

Although I don't know if this can be fixed.

I doubt they could. They'd have to do alot to get the smoke to do that. Since it isn't valumetric at all its just going to run right through stuff.

But one day it will be possible without needing a super computer, or sacraficeing tons of other things for just that. (and we'll get the valumetric water too! :) )

I love that too. I mean, just watch the Striders get around in the videos. For being totaly crazy alien machine things, they look really realistic in the way they move.

And like in the e32003 video of the Barracaides. Near the end when Gordon opens the gate and Barney is running twards you. He keeps running in your direction but he turns around. And it just looks really really good. The animation of him running and turning, and then sort of side stepping in the same direction and then getting to just full on running backwards. I looks so much better than any other games animatoins so far.

Actually, smoke (buncha little smoke puff sprites) don't go through things.
But this smoke puff caused by the explosion was too big to fit inside the crate.
They would have to "clip" it dynamically, and blah blah whatever.

urrmmm, in the E3 2003 vids the gun fire gives off light and looks awesome...in E3 2004 in the dark bit of the house where Gordon loses a load of health to the combine that have sneaked behind him the gunfire doesn't light the room up at all. For some reason they removed this, maybe it's a bug ?
