Half life 2 cd key?

ok i had to uninstall HL2 and when i tried to reinstall it, it told me that the cd key was already in use. what can i do to get by this? is there a key generator out there?

You have to go on your old account. You don't have to enter your cd-key again.

Log in to Steam your Steam account details that you initially chose/setup.

Login to your Steam account. If you have problems with this seek support from www.steampowered.com. Don't ask for key generators :|
