half life 2 in game model of gordon??

The only time you'll ever see that is in multiplayer. We haven't seen HL2's proper multiplayer yet so we haven't seen the model.

I imagine he'll look the same he did in HL1 MP, only no pony tail, more polygons and better textures.

That is, if there is a Half-Life Deathmatch. Nothing's been confirmed yet.

I believe we will see him in Singleplayer. I mean, with the cameras and mirrors and stuff. But yeah, I can only assume he will look like what he does in the non-ingame pics.

You dont see your character in singleplayer. Thats pretty much a given fact. But in multiplayer. I guess so yeah. :)

You won't. Design choice and 100% confirmed by valve.

I was really hoping that they'd show Gordon's face for the expression source demo in this year's E3, but they opted for G-man again.

They said they're porting over HL deathmatch. I assume that's the vanilla version rather than Deathmatch Classic (Quake 1 DM) but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean there'll be updated player models in that.

I highly doubt that player models or environments will be updated - because that way no game developer would be able to totally redo the graphics of 4 ,5 ports and ship the game within 2 months. And I'm saying this because Gabe said that the ports will be avialable at the same time with HL2.

I don't recall them mentioning porting HL Deathmatch.

They wouldn't really have to do any work. Providing they've gone down the route that all player models have the same animations (which is normally easier because they're all controlled by a biped skeleton) then any in-game model will work perfectly in MP too.

Valve just said they'll be porting half-life ....so since they are so vague one could assume that includes the HL deathmatch. But yet again I highly doubt it....I mean isn't it a bit too much for them to convert ALL their ports on source within a supposedly 2 month deadline of august they've given to themselves?

Supposedly not with the tools they've developed to speed the process up.

I heard HL DM was being ported from an un-reputable source so that may not make it.

Even then, as far as the environments are concerned, applying new textures and using normal/bump maps (according to merc) on the ports...surely that has to take a lot of time. And that too for let's see DoD, OF, HL, CS, e.t.c.

I don't really believe they're giving a make over to all the ports, only Cs:s I suppose.

Edit: I saw your answer up, Chris_D. No need to reply. :)

They've already said that they're going to be lavishing the most attention on Counter-Strike: Source (since it is the most popular), and will be doing lesser conversions on the other mods and expansion packs.

I never said anything about the environments. We know they're staying un-touched for the HL port at least.

They're only re-doing all the levels and models for CS:S

In the E32003 tech demo, there is one frame where you see Gordon in one of the screens from a video camera. He looked like a simple block with a HEV suit texture stuck on the front.

Of course, he'll not look like that in the final game. :p

well, I think Valve should release only HL2 and CS:S... as for the other MODs/expansions, they still have to work on them.

Who says they've been working on the ports for 2 months? As far as we know, they've been doing this all along!

Heh, I totally forgot that we have yet to see an ingame model of Gordon.. wont be that wonderfull though, pretty much just a high poly gordon who looks slightly older (Like in all the HL2 art)

I heard they are making a realese date to september 30, why don't they change it to september 31, because the sptember 30 in 2003 was in bad luck..... its like bad luck day.

False rumour. Valve hasn't said anything except august.

you heard wrong. If you're right then it would suck. no seriously.

well one things for sure, valve would be off their heads if they didnt produce a classic HL deathmatch, with all the single palyer weapons, just the variation of stuff that would be possible, would kick ass.

I cant see them discluding it, it would make alot of hardcore HL2 fans dissapointed. I mean, its a classic!,this time with kick ass weapons, and the manipulator.. perhaps the physgun, and HL2 themed maps. Why wouldnt they want to give us that. :)

I'm sorry. Please tell me your being silly and that you do actually realise there is no September 31st.

My sarcasm detector has broken. :dozey:

Highly doubt they wont have HLDM, even if its a shame 90% of HL fans now just play CS, theres only afew HLDM servers around now compaired to Mods.

Y'know, I think that one of those ATI press poster thingies around the time of the coupon deal looked like it had shot of the in-game Gordon in it...

That would explain why they missed the Sep 30th date.
Yeah, those three 1/2 sessions must really have eaten up developement time. :P
