half life 2 line glitch - help please:)

hello everyone,

i have a problem with all of my valve games (especially HL2). The problem is that on the weapons and some big objects, doors etc there are these big line things coming out of them in random directions. Its really annoying and provokes my gameplay and sometimes limits my vision of the game. I have attached a picture of this problem.



I would greatly appreciate help with fixing this problem and if there isnt a way how to make it a little better.

Wow... Wtf? Varify game cache... Thats all I got.

Definitely some kind of graphical glitch. Verify your game cache, update drivers, that kind of thing.

I've seen this sorta thing before but I don't know how to fix it.

try completely uninstalling steam and then reinstalling it. that always works.

EDIT: make sure you backup all you're saves! And remember to thank us so we know you fixed it.

That's some wacky artifacting - disable any overclocks and see what happens. If you're not overclocked, clean out dust and check your temps maybe. Trying a new set of video drivers before doing any of that couldn't hurt.

Woah, laser pointer! Okay, if you don't want it, try reinstalling the game or searching steam forums for help.

Looks like over-heating. Quit clocking past your normals. That should get rid of the artifacts.

If your not overclocking, what video card are you using?
