I recently saw a list of movies/screenshots of HL2 , one of the movies looked to be set in/around a train or train station; as well as some screenshots. I myself didnt want to watch the movie, because I dont want to spoil the possible beginning of the game. Do u guys think that HL2 will have a similar start to the first one? after all the train sequence from Half-Life is pretty famous, so perhaps Valve wanted to have a similar beginning to HL2.

It is sure looking that way, i wuld like a good beggining like hl1, and i guessing being with no weapons and not knowing where ur going on a creepy train is a good start so i wuld hope so.

I am looking forward to the train sequence the most, as well as the train station.

To be completely honest, after I took the train ride once in Half-Life, the next times I started a new game it got kind of boring...

But with HL2's new engine, I'm kind of looking forward to it...

It's been confirmed that the game starts in a train, by Valve and people who visited them. Apparently it's not that long though, so it won't get as annoying as the one in HL1.

by looking in the credits.txt in base source shared:

//========================================================
//These are the names used in the intro (trainride)
//========================================================
"IntroCreditsNames"
{
"V" "WeaponIcons"
" " "CreditsText"
" " "CreditsText"
"Viktor Antonov" "CreditsText"
"Ted Backman" "CreditsText"
etc.
etc.

It would be fantastic if they had the same female voice as the first, or similar at least. That would be a nice little reference back to the first game.

That's how I'd imagine it to start off.

"Thank you for choosing City 17 to be your home. Please, be wary of the combine soldiers as they will not hesitate to ram their shock sticks into any and/or all crevices you may have. If you are worried about 70ft striders walking around outside your house, just STFU and have a very safe and productive day."

The trainride is supposedly much shorter than the first one and more like a reference to HL1 than an actual intro.

I hope that the beginnning is nice and long. That was the reason HL could be seperate from other games. It tends to get you into the mood.

US PC gamer says the game starts with a short train ride, very short.
