Back then, didn't it say that the G-Man was responsible for the Resonance Cascade? Because i find myself agreeing with it a whole lot more now...

Don't like that pure speculation about the Rocket Launch in HL1 though. Nothing to back that up at all.

Care to share why , because i am pretty sure it was breens doing, for some reason valve cut this dialouge from the game:

"I am relying on you to fail again dr freeman, just as i relied on you at black mesa..." Breen...

But then again, it could have been gman, but why??

They didn't cut that dialogue, he says that to you when you are walking around in the citadel owning some sweet combine ass.

Ah, poor clarity of speech there. I said "Back then, didn't it say that the G-Man was responsible for the Resonance Cascade? Because i find myself agreeing with it a whole lot more now...". By "It" I meant the guide itself, not the theory that the guide previously championed: That the G-Man caused the Resonance Cascade...

However, I am inclined to accept the theory that Valve had a change of plan storywise half-way through: Breen was invented some way into Half-Life 2's development. Apparently Gabe Newell himself suggested that he should be revealed to be the administrator mentioned in Half-Life 1. The G-Man's role in the HL games has always been open for interpretation... I was one of many who "mistakingly" heard mentions of the Administrator and linked them with the figure in the Black Suit who was visiting that fateful day. This is supported by what people believe the G-Man says behind the bullet-proof office door in "Hazardous Materials", which are apparently him commading the sci there to push the equipment beyond its actual capacity. Therefore, I think it likely that the G-Man was originally the administrator of Black Mesa, but in light of HL2, that role has obviously been painted over...
