Half-Life 2 turnout....or burnout?

What if Half-Life 2 turns out to be not what you expected? Then what will you do, huh? Then you all would have created so much hype over a mediocre FPS. If it is as redudant, motonous, and flat-out boring as other first-person-shooters (aka Serious Sam), just with better graphics, level design, and sound. It needs to contain the main core of any memorable game, REPLAY!...Over and Over. Where people will be playing this game ten years from now. It can't get too old too fast.
Oh, what am I talking about? I'm just rolling on for no apparent reason with nothing to do...oh well. I guess just to get feedback from you guys...the people who care, ya know?

I hope HL2 will turn out to be what everyone had imagined...and more! ALL HAIL HALF LIFE 2...whenever it gets released.

Go ahead moderator...close this thread and move it to some other forum, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.

It looks like nothing ive ever seen before... Alot of game vids look good, sure, but HL2's stood out to me.
 
be dissapointed... then move on?
it would suck (and very unlikely) but there are other games out there.
 
Thats an issue whenever you begin to closely follow a game before release. Fortunately HL2 hasn't shown any signs of being anything other than astounding, so theres no reason to go being pessimistic.
And Serious Sam was a fun, if stupid, blast for $20.
 
I think that will not be a problem. I have never been so excited about a game before.
 
Even if the game turns out to be crap there are always modders who can make something good out of it.

Thankfully it shows no signs of being anything but outsanding.
 
Half-life 2 will be good... watch the videos and ask all the people that have played the beta... I thought the beta was better than farcry....
 
I hope it'll be good, but if it isn't, I'll move on. There are many great games coming out soon, I'm sure I'll be able to live =)

Oh yeah?...You played the beta, well you could you prove me wrong and send me the beta of HL2? I would love to be proved WRONG!
I believe there is more hype over this game than any other game in gaming history.

Oh yeah?...You played the beta, well you could you prove me wrong and send me the beta of HL2? I couldn't believe that it is better than Far Cry. That game is just freakin' AMAZING! I love Far Cry. Well, I would love to be proved WRONG!
I believe there is more hype over this game than any other game in gaming history.
 
Get this in to your head, it's not a "beta" its a stolen code from an old build.

beta talk is not tolerated on these forums.

and i believe this game IS the most hyped game ever.. and whats even better? its going to live up to that hype.
 
No messing with Serious Sam! It was a really fun game to play, lovely action.

And whether or not HL2 is gonna disappoint is totally dependent on your own expectations, and while I'm excited, I'm not blinded or have false hopes.

Without doubt, I can say that the game will disappoint a small number of people. But those are the folks that expected a fully destructable world, dynamic liquid physics etc etc.

PatPwnt brought up the "beta". I just asked about it and asked if he could send it to me to prove me wrong. I was unaware that it was a stolen source code from an old build, sorry.
 
I dont see how this has been the most hyped game of all time.

its been hyped but not that hyped.

and it wont dissapoint.

but in 0.001% chance that it does, ill take it back to the stores and get a refund.
 
If it sucks I will cry and watch the two E3 videos over and over.....

Seriously though, there are lots of 'mediocre' FPS that I've enjoyed and if HL2 is mediocre then Valve will learn from their mistakes and make an even better HL3. I myself will scour the internet for another game that promises so much and let my fanboism leech on to that.
 
But I'd love to get my sweaty hands on a real beta of HALF LIFE 2. Without the stolen source code that is. I'd do almost anything for the beta version of HL2, let alone the final version.

Dude take it easy. Its just a game
 
I do agree that HL2 is probably the most hyped game ever, but with reason.
We probably greatly enjoy all the games that you do itakeyourbullets, and probably like them just as much. I had a blast playing CoD, Unreal 2004, Far Cry, Splinter Cell 2, etc, and we are both looking forward to the same games as you also. I think I can saftly speak for all of us when I say that we will also crap our pants while playing Doom 3 as you will and we will also play STALKER with an unhealthy devotion as I'm sure you will to. But, we find something special in HL2 and that is why we are more excited about it. I respect your opinion and I also hope that HL2 will spoon feed us some gaming euphoria.
 
What a cheap shot on Serious Sam. You don't buy that game for a story. You buy it to kill thousands of enemies. You buy it for what it is, and it is great at what it is supposed to do.
