Hey all, my name is Race, im new to the forums, and I just wanted to share a little project I did over the weekend for fun. It is an announcement trailer for a full scale movie that I am going to be beginning work on in 2 weeks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gILG_R2wQNo
in this trailer, please note that there is no actual footage from the movie as it has not started filming yet, and this was really just a test with some models, but it was fun to make none the less!
However, I would like to clue you in on the story line:
Half Life: Exodus does not follow the story line of Gordon Freeman. It doesn't even involve the characters from the first or second game. The setting is in a city I have named Vermillion, however gamers may be more firmiliar with its current name of City 17. The story takes place between HL1 and HL2. The main characters are all college students attending university in Vermillion when the city is invaded and consequently shut off from the world by the combine. the as-of-yet unnamed main character takes up the job of alerting the free world to the attrocities that are occuring as the city falls further into the grasp of the combine the only way he knows, and that is through his home video camera, which he ships tapes off to a helper who uploads them to the internet to show the world. as you would imagine, this upsets the combine, and so the chase begins as the hero fights to inform the world, and eventually, fights to survive the combine.
to build hype and at the same time involve the audience in a unique way, before the final movie is released, I am going to make a website that will be posting the videos that are being recorded by the hero, like it is the actual place people go to see what happens in City 17. The videos will not be narrative but rather will be treated as if the main character was actually running around filming striders in his back yard, etc, so the audience will live as if they are part of the story line. and of course they will all want to see the story behind the videos in the end! This is my big project for the next few months, and I am glad to be able to finally announce it after I have finished the script and have obtained a budget to film on. I look forward to posting an actual trailer within a month!
