So, we know the stories will cross over at some point. I just had a brilliant idea for a cross-over situation. Warning: It's 1:45am here, so this idea may only be 1:45am-brilliant, but it seems brilliant to me right now. Here it is:

What if GLaDOS got installed onto Dog?

:|

OH SHI-

That would be a very bad thing...especially if she converts the ZPEM on his arm into a portal gun.

Yeah like Dog is walking around and he finds a huge piece of GLaDOS then birngs it to Alyx then shes like "Wow its some kind of super computer". Then she says she will install it into him to make his AI more advanced. then GLaDOS talks to him and trys to manipulate him.

Give the girl some credit. Alyx isn't that dumb...

Nuuuu.

Dog is teh win. No one touches Dog.

Dog touches you.

:hmph:

2:04 am here.

Nah, D0g would hump GLaDOS' curiosity sphere, and it would go all: ,, Why is that thing so hard? ''

How the hell do you install a supercomputer in a Robot??

But it's like saying, "Oh, I'm just going to download the internet onto my calculator"...

Oh, I've done that...

This idea could work though. What if Dog passes by and GLaDOS and she shoots out a cord or something and transfers the data along?

First off, dog is very small compared to GLaDOS, second, how could they install it into Dog, hes never been at Aperture if you ask me.

We don't know the hardware specifications of Dog, nor the minimum system requirements of GLaDOS. Also, GLaDOS is clearly very modular in design, as is made clear in the final encounter with her in Portal. Therefore, only her critical components are necessary, as she won't be needing to, for example, simulate a human brain given a brain print (as she may have done in Portal). Given the amazing tech at Aperture, I'd imagine GLaDOS's design would be very portable and scalable. Sort of like how you can play Half-life 2 in DirectX7 or have Linux run a Beowulf cluster or a handheld device. Not to mention that this is science fiction, so these sorts of issues probably don't matter.

And so far, obviously, GLaDOS isn't on Dog. I just said it would be an interesting situation. (I even consciously chose the word 'situation' instead of 'scenario' because I didn't offer an explanation of how it happens. There are many possible ways.)

GLaDOS is not going to be put in dog!

My 2 Shekels

Ok, this is a copy-paste I posted at another forum. It may be a little wierd out of context, but I think most of the important points are there.

Option One:

So, I think the correlation between Half Life and Portal goes something like this:

[200X] Half-Life 1\Aperture Science's bring-your-daughter-to-work day.
[20XX] Half Life 2\Portal.
Chell seems to be in her late 20's or early 30's (Alesia Glidewell is 29, so we can use that to help us determine Chell's age). If HL2 takes place some 20 years after HL1 ("Gordon emerges from the darkness, nearly two decades removed from his last conscious thought") we can conclude Chell was about ten at the time of the BYDtW day. Anyway, that's not the point.

Apparently, there are still people working at Aperture Science.
First, you've got the AS website. If you type 'thecakeisale' after logging in, you get this page.
"Twenty year old equipment". just like the time between HL1 and HL2. During that time, I guess GLaDOS must've took over AC and started redirecting funds to her new Enrichment Center, which I think is actually Tier 3. While she's doing that, Tier 1 and Tier 2 remain fundless and very poor.
Second, there's the final shot from Portal. As you can see, there's an AC security booth at this parking lot. No cars, though...
So, now we can safely say there are still people working in AC.

Here are the questions I couldn't answer:
-We know GLaDOS tried to kill everybody in the Enrichment Center, and we know she didn't succeed because someone managed to install the "Morality Core". We also know that even with the Core installed, there are no humans in the EC at the time of Portal. How did it happen? Were all the people killed? Did they all run away from something? Were they evacuated?
-Who are the "Supervises" from the AC website? Combine?
-How is AC still working? You would think the Combine would've shut it down as soon as they heard of it.
I may have an answer to that question. The only way Aperture Science could be allowed to remain operational is if it is now working for the Combine. It would actaully explain a lot of things, like how did it remain operational, and who are the "Supervises". We also know the Combine is very interested in portal technology, which would explain whey they didn't just dismantle AC. Why they would allow GLaDOS to "live", I have no idea.

Option Two:

Maybe it was all a test? Everything, from the test chambers to the final battle with GLaDOS, a test? A cruel, unforgiving test?
And you know who likes that sort of test.
What if Aperture Science is under the protection of our, ah, Mutual Friend? What if, just like he did with Gordon in Black Mesa, the G-Man was tring to find out if Chell was worth hiring?
Chell might just be the replacement the G-Man was looking for after losing Gordon.
This means Portal takes place after the end of HL2, after the G-Man is held back by the Vorts causing him to lose his control over Gordon.

Option Three:

Portal occurs before the events of Half Life.
Boring and Therefor Wrong.

SO, these are my thoughts. I'd love for some feedback.
[I'm new here, by the way :)]

Ya and what about Shephard(probably wrong spelling), wasn't he supposed to replace Gordon!?? You're seriously deluded my friend to even think that we will all forget about our dear good friend Shephard! Jk, just in case Simon finds this thread.:hmph:

Seriously now, I believe if that crazy a.i were to (somehow) get installed onto Dog then it would be pretty funny hearing Glados' voice coming from Dog and communicating with Alyx and Gordon.

Interesting...but why not just have GLaDOS corrupting Dog as opposed to completely overwriting him. (Or being "installed" in him) She makes him go haywire and you end up having to square off against him. In the end you subdue him somehow and Alyx fixes the problem. Dog gets pissed and rips GLaDOS to pieces. Or maybe you get pissed and rip her to pieces. Or perhaps she lives to fight another day.

However I don't see how this would move the story along. Could be interesting though squaring off against dog.

You would be fighting dog then Alyx jumps in the way and dog kills her, you then kill dog. Then it turns out that GLaDOS is the G-man.

Yeah, and then the Garden Gnome drops from space and lands on your head skewering your brain.

And it turns out lamar was riding down on top of it. Due to the easy access to your brain she tries to couple with it but since she is debeaked you simply fall over dead. The game than turns into a cutesy platformer with lamar as the star.

Give the girl some credit. Alyx isn't that dumb...

I agree, if Alyx can hack combine computers, decrypt turrets to attack combine, fly a helicopter and open combine doors, then shes a intelligent figure.

If Chell enters the scene there might not be a crossover with gordon. If there is, just like Blue shift and Opfor gordon just stares, but doesn't talk.

Chell might be holding the most important device they really need. I doubt GLaDOS can be integrated into dog's system, they simply don't match. It's like taking a VGA 8x and trying to fit it onto a PCI-E 16x slot.

If the combine never found the Aperture science lab, then that means they haven't covered every square acre of earth, which i highly agree they didn't.

Or they could be boobs, successfully making Dog a girl like Glados.

Not to forget that she has knowledge in theoretical physics.
