pretty much everything points to the game being delayed for a while yet...the exclusion of pics in a mag, the vampire bloodlines agreement changing, the ongoing lawsuit, and lack of further preloads.

the Facts(and there are really only a few) tell me personally(and no they do not talk themselves, at least not until i've had a few) thta march 2005 seems more and more real. Xbox2 debut, the actually trial date, and the fact that the trail is set for the spring release....

i hope i am wrong, but with no official comments (to me, purley because of the lawsuit), noone can say for sure.

the fools gold post was denounced becasue the origin IP was different than the others that gabe made, but noone ever thought "maybe he uses more than one pc".....and it's quite obvious that delay is partly due to steam(or else why would they be putting updates still)....

anybody else have some input?

I dont think that the lawsuit will have anything to do with the release of halflife2..

I mean the lawsuit involves different people in these companys..
Not the rc department..

The vampire bloodlines agreement changing? Did i miss something?

what would xbox have to do w/ hl2, i dont think they need hl2 as a release game, they wouldnt let us preload the game months before the release, orr, wait yes they would, TIME TO FLAME VALVe AGAIN!

* Why would the exclusion of pictures in a magazine point to Half-Life 2 being delayed? Especially since the magazine still has a review.

* The lack of preloads means nothing. What has Valve got left to preload? Maps and the Source engine. These are the two things most likely to change if the RC is rejected.

* It wasn't Gabes computer, he's comfirmed that. Why would be say it was going Gold but then retract that? And then, if he really did that, would he say the RC had been sent off.

* Why would the X-Box 2 have anything to do with Half-Life 2?

1: Pictures delayed so as to not spoil the game because noone will have played it yet.

2: i agree with you there, but there was a steam update last night. this means that the version of steam with the rc is no good, IMHO.

3: What if he got excited that the game was done, but then afterwards, realized that steam was not ready yet. Say Gabe's internal testing was complete..."it's gone gold!"...remember that HL1 went gold first try.

4: Rumors are that X-box 2 will ship with HL2 as the included game. Still just a rumour, but everything right now is pretty much "just a rumour".

Yeah i really think nothing will cause a delay now, i really believe VU just stress test the RC now for gold aproval.

1. But wouldn't that logic apply to the review as well? We know we won't be playing before the reviews come out.

2. The Steam update was minor, and it only applies to playing online. You could just connect and then it would automatically update.

3. You would have a point if the post was made from Gabe's usual ip. But it was confirmed (both by ip and e-mail) that it wasn't Gabe. But it's doubtful that any delay anything to do with Steam, I mean, it works pretty fine.

4. The X-Box version of Half-Life 2 has always been expected to come out later than the PC version, I don't see how it would affect the PC release.

You're listing a string of unrelated reasons for the game being delayed, you may as well say "Half-Life 2 is going to be delayed because my car is green".

I don't think there will be any more huge delays either. If it is, then atleast it's not Valve's fault. Everything is in VUG's hands now. Let's hate them if they delay it. Valve deserves some sweet luvin' considering the clash with VUG and all. Why don't each and everyone of us send a sixpack of beer to valve? Now that would make a hell of a party, and get their mind on other things.

It would make much more sense to release Halo 2 with the Xbox 2 launch than HL2. But then I've heard rumours of the X-box 2 launch as Summer 2005 or march 2006. The trial could delay the game, but I am not sure it will. Both companies will benefit more to release and sell the game at the opportune time that gets more mulah. Then they can decide who gets the mulah later down the track.

LMFAO, WTF are you smoking? Steam auto updates (patches) to the latest version when it first connects, have you never noticed this before? How you can even remotely conclude that HL2 is going to be delayed because of the RC doesn't have the present version of steam is an opinion not worth the paper it's written on TBFH.

Please in future don't try starting these doom mongering threads unless you have fully researched and thought out your arguments beforehand.
