Hammer HDR lighting issues

A couple of days ago, I was lucky enough to get myself a new 7600GS upgrade from my old FX5200, and all the shiny HDR capabilities that come with it. Played Ep1 and Lost Coast, etc... with the new amped up graphics - and all was fine.
But then I thought I'd give it a try in Hammer. The HDR effect in the skyboxes work perfectly well, but nowhere else. Any map with a specular level, it seems, glows pure white. Metal textures, headcrabs, doors, anything with any level of gloss.

Gives a nice effect to the hands though...

Put a env_cubemap in youre map, compile it, open the map, type "buildcubemaps" and youre done.

(reload map)

Only way I've gotten it to work properly. That's in HL2dm though; EpOne, if that's what you're working with, may be better about it.
 
My many thanks all round. After I figured out how to buildcubmaps, I found that keyword in the Valve dev community.
