Did anyone notice that the flying (I'll just say helicopter) in the old blink videos is different from the one's from E3? I e-mailed Gabe about it, maybe I'll get a reply, they may have just upgraded it?

Perhaps like most armed forces the combine has more than one variant of helicopter to fulfill different rolls.

In last year's videos there was an alien gun ship that looked rather alien-y.

In this year's presentation it seemed to be a human-made helicopter. I'd say they both exist in the game.

I think that was just a nickname because it looks like one. Anyways, the alien gunship looks like a flying counter-part to the Strider, just without the crazy spacial-distortion cannon thing...

Ankster, the manatee is what fans called the Alien Gunship before we found out its real name from Gabe.

a manatee, flying or not, is a giant water-faring mammal found in the lagoons of the southern united states, not an armored combine gunship.

I think the manatee/gunship looks extremely similar to the strider in concept and design, not to mention that the combine hail one with a signal flare in the Barricade bink video.

Well, looking at the amount of firepower each puts out, I'd say that the Gunship is for infantry support/supression and scouting, and the helicopter (With all those bullets it puts out) is more of a heavy fire platform...

hmmm I'll just stick this in here...but anyone noticed that apparently you can shoot rockets of course(at least with the mounted machine gun on the hover-boat)...or perhaps the combine are really lousy shots with their rockets.

alright so far we know that there are combine aliens; against you, most xen aliens; neutral, and citizens of city 17 and slave; allies, but i'm wondering if the alien gunship is just xen technology being used by combines

The helecopter is meant for patrolling the water areas.
It drops mines. Floating mines. It's like a Sea King.
The combine gunship is for land, and look like it can take out (obviously infantry) but also small vehicles.

What are you talking about in that spoiler? Never heard of that...

isn't it kinda hard to manouvre a heli in the city? (unless @ high altitude)
Wouldnt want to write the AI for manouvring heli's in the city at a reasonable hight
