Help finding new monitor.

Just wanted some input on what to get. Looking for a 17in-19in FlatScreen "CRT" monitor, preferring Dell, Samsung, or Viewsonic, unless some other off-brands are good? Anywhere from $250-$400, i need a pretty decent one, high dot-pitch, whatever else....oh yes and this sounds retarted but really really preferring black. Most likely getting it off the internet too.

I got an NEC multisync FE991SB and im really happy with it. Some people have said the noticed green haze on the lower left of the monitor but I havent noticed any. My only problem with this monitor is there is two horizontal lines across the monitor about one quarter from the top and one quarter from the bottem of the monitor. I only notice them though when the screen is one colour (even then I have to look really hard to see them) though and have never noticed them one playing games. (I can only notice them on the blue desktop in windows). Other then that its fine.

Yeah those lines are new technology CRT monitors are using, my 16in syncmaster has it, use to bug me for about a month, got over it. Thanks for the viewsonic monitor, most likely i will end up getting that one. I heard it's blurry though. Also i found another site selling that viewsonic monitor for $1 less, lol so newegg isn't the cheapest...lol. Thanks again.

Those Samsung 955DF's have been known to lose their geometry, i've heard of some people who've had 6 of those monitors and they all suck. It's a budget 19 inch monitor, that tokin shouldn't even look at.

the specs on that monitor are good and i already own a Viewsonic.. and well.. even tho i haven't bought that monitor in the link yet.. i will definitely get it for my second PC.

whats the best type of monitor for gaming? a LCD, just the normal ones but with a flatscreen, or just a normal monitor with the kinda curved glass part?!

Normal monitor with the kinda curved glass part gives you awesome glare. It might be the best.
The normal ones but with the flatscreen take away that glare. Although it might be the best.
A LCD has a stunning motion blur effect in high action games. It might be the best.

It's a hard choice but that flat CRT just might take the cake, even though it is without the awesome glare.
