help! halflife 2 not installing cd key problem

i bought half life 2 sunday mainly so i could play digital paintball(u need the hl2 cd key) and cuz i played it at my friends house and its badass. I install it and it asks for my cd key and it says its a duplicate key, but i bought the game brandnew from gamestop. I bought the cd version not the dvd one any key gens i could use? or anything? i know u can send in ur key to valve and have it reset but i dont wanna wait 6 weeks to play please help

Take it back to the shop you bought it and ask to exchange as the key has already been used.

Are you sure its hl2 you want? The only paintball mod I am aware of is for the original half life.
Mind you, even if thats the case, you should still get HL2. It is worth it.

Have you considered getting the steam silver pack? You get HL1 included with it, so whichever one you need for your mod, it will work.

Don't ask for help to obtain HL2 illegally here. At best you will get flamed, at worst you will be banned. Yes key gens are illeagal.

If the place you bought it from won't help you (They should, they sold you a non-working copy), you will have to go through valve. I know that will take a long time, but sometimes life deals you crap hands you just have to take.

ehh it was worth a try, the problem is i went to a store like 45 min away from my house( i was at a friends house) so i was wondering if i still have the recept would a diff gamestop accept my hl2?

Depends on the store. Best bet is to phone your local place and ask. Worst they can say is no.

Like I say, its a real bitch when the key dosen't work because it causes you all this hassle, unfortunatly however, theres often no easy answer.
