Help, I'm New To Steam

Ok I got HL2 and played it, it was the best I ever played.(not that this has to do with my question)

how would you go about getting HL1 on steam, would I have to buy HL2 again and get that collector edition?

Or if I just bought HL1 would it cause complications with steam for what ever reason?

another thing I downloaded some "third party games" for example
The Specialists and I installed them into steam, now there in my third party sub-menu but I can't play them it just tells me purchase, I don't understand this is a mod why pay??? or did I need to do somthing to unlock them

In order to play "Third Party" games (aka. modifications, mods), you need to get Half-Life. If you want to buy it, you can off Steam by clicking the Brows Games button.
