Help me Please, HL2 loading problems!

I open hl2, the game goes to a screen with a fuzzy bg and it says "loading ..." in the bottom right of the screen.

then it sits there for seconds... minutes... infinity....

...what's wrong?

please don't tell me to restart and reinstall all this stuff because i already tried that.

=( anyone know what else might fix it?

or is it supposed to take for ever?
