Hey all, when I play Half-life 2 it has a weird problem- everyonce in a while, (especially when something big is gonna happen) my game freezes and I hear a loop of whatever sound it was playing, This is kinda annoying, is it loading something, or is it my PC? If it is my PC, I am willing to upgrade it. Here are my specs:

Operating System: Windows XP
Memory: 512 RAM
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce FX 6800
Hard Drive: 74.5 GB Space
CD Writer 52X

If there is any other information you all need just tell me and ill post it up.

Thnx

That is the infamous stuttering problem. Have you tried reducing your texture quality in the video options? I found that if I put on medium textures instead of high, the stuttering disappeared almost entirely. Since I bought another 512mb of RAM (I now have 1024), I can put it on high quality textures without the stuttering. So for me it was a RAM (or lack of) problem.

I've set the most things to medium and a few things to low. I left the textures on high else the game was to ugly if you ask me. Good Luck with playin.

Try playing on the settings the game recommends or join the people on steam forums complaining their game is broken. I suggest the first. :)
