Help PC Crashes

Hi i have had half life 2 for a while and copleted it but when i went to play it agian (because it such a good game) it installs and unpacks perfectly but when it says ready to play i click it and it comes up with the 'Loading' in the corner and then crashes has anyone know how to solve this ?

AMD Athlon 64 2.4 GHz CPU
512 Ram
Nvidia GeForce 6500
80Gb Maxtor Hdd
Direct X 9.0c

Update drivers (Sound and video). Also if you have HL2 on high settings, probably your resolution is higher than your card/monitor can handle, try to lowering down a little.

Ps. There is a way to launch HL2 in safe mode (sort of) I forgot the code, I will look for it, or maybe if Beerdude comes around he is gonna help you out.

Just hang on a little.
