I'm in the process of making a map for dod:s and I've placed some tanks into the map that fire at fixed locations. I did this with a button to trigger a muzzle blast/explosion, then an impact explosion after a short delay coupled with a quick turn on/off of an env_smokestack at the shell impact location. All is well so far and I'm quite happy with the effect but I need to make the explosion either leave a decal on the crater or i need to know if there is a way i could toggle an overlay to appear after the shot and then if need be to slowly disappear until the next time the tank gun is fired.

aka
i need to know if you can toggle decals or overlays. And if so then how?
or
i need to know if any of you experienced mappers know of some sort of alternate way to make a blast mark appear in my map as the result of a player induced trigger/explosion.

oh, i also need to know how i can make team specific game_zone_player triggers. I have set up the tank so that if the player jumps up behind the turret it enables an invisible button to be pressed, and i have the button unlock from the OnPlayerInZone input/output, but I need this all to occur in a team specific way, which i don't know how to do. I very well can't be having germans ordering sherman crews to "fire." :)

You may want to post how you sorted it, rather than making this thread completely useless.

I intend on doing just that, but i just brushed by a near encounter with a total loss of my map after months of work... I needed to reinstall my pc and format after some hardware problems I had. I almost lost my map. my god that was close.

Anyhow I figured out easily enough how to make the tank firing team specific, but i have not yet figured out how to get decals/marks on the walls from my explosions. I'm still working on that. I do intend to post an explanation of how once I find out myself, such as to not make this thread useless. I'm sure someone somewhere will find this useful other then just me.

Has anyone else ever triggered explosions and wanted a blast mark left on the world from it? how did you do it?
