Help with CHEATS (Don't shoot the messenger...please!)

How can I enable the cheat mode?

I have already completed the game several times, so I thought I would just have some fun with the cheats. The information I have obtained tells to 'press the ~button to bring down the console...'. I have pushed the "~" so hard that my fingers are numb and bleeding but nothing happens. Have I missed something, or doing something wrong?

I'm sure most of you resent even the thought of using cheatcodes, but as I said, I have already completed the game and I am just hoping to try the codes.

So please help me...

god
impulse 101
bind v "noclip"
sv_phystimescale 0.00001

The "~" key is right under the ESC button.

On my computer, it has the symbols § and ½ and if I press that button, nothing happens...I've pressed every button...I didnt have this much trouble with BlueShift, the console appeared instantly...I dont know what is going on...

bind "d" "toggleconsole"

and press D in game and the console will come up. I've had this problem too, fixed it that way.

if that doesnt work try:
bind "d" "+toggleconsole"

not really sure wich one it is.

why D? most people use 'wasd' to move around, you wouldnt wanna get rid of strafe right. Go into keyboard > advanced > and tick enable developers console first. Then add that line to your config if you have a different keyboard.

Config can be found in...
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\[email protected]\half-life 2\hl2\cfg
(you may have a 'valve' folder in there somewhere)

Just add the line (bind to whatever key you like) then save it.

sv_cheats 1 (enables cheat mode)
sv_cheats 0 (disables cheats)
god = god mod
noclip = noclip around the map
impulse 101 = all weapons.

If you want to turn off god/noclip just type them again into the console and they will be disabled. Good luck.

I don't think he understands what binding is, Binding is when you make a key preform a certain action
so its bind <key> "<action>"

You don't have to go to config.sys. You can type that in the console. Oh, wait...

oh for cripes sake, ate the end of the shortcut go to the target spot and type -console and then the console will work

That was a good piece of advice...I even had my hopes up...but still nothing happens when I press "d" during the game...
