HL2 Computer Advice

I'm planning on building a computer for my first time (so I can play HL2) and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

What would be a strong, long lasting, cost effective configuration?

Where can I get the stuff cheap?

How much will it cost me including the OS?

Or should I stop before I get myself into a mess I can't handle?

It all depends on the price range, which route you want to take with processors going AMD or Intel, and if you want to go normal PCI-Express or SLI. Actually, just tell us the price range and we can work something out. :smoking:

$1000-2000 including monitor...

but if it takes more to play HL2 at full specs then I'll pay it...

I can easily play HL2 at full

Radeon 9800 pro
Athlon 2400+
Asus A7N8X deluxe
512mb pc3200 generic kingston ram
and everything else doesnt realy influence preformance much, it's up to prefrence.
