HL2 Model Problems

While the rest of my HL2 runs smooth, however when I wield a gun or my crowbar I cannot see my hand models. Any idea on how to fix this? When I play the game, it says it need to have the $models=1 in the .vmt file, where would I find that? I searched but couldnt find it. It says this error.
Material models/weapons/v_hand/v_hand_sheet is being applied to a model, you need $model=1 in the .vmt file!
