Why is it so hard to find some damn skins for this game? I'm looking to replace the faggety HL2 weapons with something cooler looking, but it's vanished of the internet. For CS, there are a million different replacements hanging around for any given weapon. Why doesn't HL2 have this attention?

I can't even find a damn knife skin for the crowbar, wich you would think is the first thing to be made, the day after the game is released. Can somebody tell me where there are HL2 skins to be downloaded (except filefront, wich don't have **** all).

You mean models, not skins. They take a good deal of time and effort to make, and people obviously are reluctant to do it.

I would say the majority of talented modellers are probably working on mods rather than modelling for fun's sake alone.

But how come CS: Source modellers are so into it?

Well Css is so widely played - if i was a modeller and wanted exposure i'd shoot for making models for cs rather than hl2.

What's wrong with the HL2 models anyway? Oh right they're 'faggety'.

I don't know how to model myself. And the HL2 models aren't what you would look for in videogames. The pulse rifle for example looks TERRIBLE. You wouldn't belive that Valve made it. It's blue and thats all there is to it. No detail or anything. The USP (although it's not called that in the game) looks too weak.

The SMG, Shotgun, and especially the revolver are very nice. But it would be nicer to have like an MP5 and Desert Eagle instead. It makes it more realistic.

Thanks for the ling Riomhaire, i'm looking at it now :)

Right, because desert eagles and MP5s are the only guns used by anyone.

Also, the pulse rifle is not 'just blue' with no detail.
It's not even blue.

Can't say I agree with you on the, for example, the pulse rifle being 'terrible'. This is kinda like when that guy started ranting about the skybox being awful and making the game unplayable. (o_O)

As for 'realistic', HL2 is set 15-20 years into the future, hence the next-generation MP7. The revolver's just cool.

Wierd how Gordon holds an SMG 2-handed and an AR 1 handed. I guess there's no backfire in the OWSIPR or whatever the abreviation is.
God damnit why does that V952 appear on so much Combine stuff?

The Hi-Def stuff is pretty sweet, if the keep it up and get all textures up one more notch it would be amazing, there is flaw is in the fingers...

Ok, look at it this way, are going to make a skin for people who are going to only play that game ever so often(adverage gamer), or for a game where the player would play a lot(once again an adverage gamer), plus you have to think about how long the game will live, HL2 is an amazing game, but VERY weak MP(IMHO), where as CSS is an awesome MP game and won't die soon, so make skins for the more played and the longer lived.

The pulse rifle is blue in more lit enviroments. Anyway, it's not the point. It has no cool looking moving parts (like any other rifle has bullets ejecting and stuff moving),making it very stale.

It's very big at the front, making it clumsy and too heavy to use in a melee situation. You would be defenseless if the enemy came too close. If we would compare it with one of the best rifles today (M4A1), you can see that the barrel part of it is more jagged and designed for grip, while the Pulse rifle is just smooth and stale looking. Also if you were to aim with the Combine pulse rifle (using the sights), your view would be blocked by the gigantic magazine, as shown by the above picture.

It's not a weapon that some high-tech aliens would be likely to develop. It should be smaller and easier to hold, since it doesn't have much of a recoil. Or an OICW on steroids of some sort, with all sorts of gadgets in the weapon. At least so you get the sensation of "wow, i'm gonna take someones head clean off!" when you pick it up from the inventory.

I just think its one of the ugliest guns ever shown.

Dude, it makes your opponents evaporate.

Reload it. I think it's the most awesome reload animation ever. And the sound is just cool.

It was suppose to shoot incinerary rounds which is why its called the irifle. Valve didnt want to make a new model and liked its combine look so they made it the AR2. It needs a good retexture imo.

The magazine does not block the line of vision down the centre of the gunsights. It obstructs things to the right, but that's it. The payoff of that is that it assumedly acts as a sheild

Also, the overwatch seem to have no problem whatsoever smashing people with the gun's stock in the game.
And it is an OICW, for all intents and purposes. It just has no scope (but the OICW wouldn't either, since no HL weapon has a tertiary fire.)

It also has more complex animation than the OICW would, since the bullets from that gun eject from the right side.

Maybe it's designed to have no real scope. It could interact with the Overwatch armour to provide a HUD crosshair so that a sight isn't needed. Therefor depriving the resistance of a crosshair if they got the gun, or something.

We'll just have to disagree. I certainly hope that they make something different for Aftermath, or provide you with some sort of downloadable replacements.

I will say that the magnum, AR2 and Annabelle need better textures. But as weapons they kick ass. I for one love the look of the IRifle.
