is there anyway to get the music from the game directly?

i know the songs are not in .mp3 but is there any program out there that can open/reformat them?

or is my only hope buying the soundtrack (which i understand is mostly songs that sound like they go with the game, not nessesarily songs that were)

thanks!

Get GCFscape (google it), and then I forget which gcf file (somewhere is Steam folder) you open to listen to the in-game music.

Just experiment a little and you'll find it.

What do you mean by this? The songs on the soundtrack are the songs from the game. The songs in the game were made to go in the game. That is why the songs in the soundtrack sound like they go with the game.

Find everything you could possibly need in both those threads.

Its easy, download microsoft. NET frameworks 1.1 from the microsoft website and install.

Download the GCF scape someone else suggested, and install it.

Go through your steam files until you find the .GCF file called source sounds. Open it by right clicking it and using GCFscape or just double click.

Find the file called music, and highlight all the songs in there and 'extract' them to a file in your documents or desktop...wherever. Its very simple.
