Nope, I never really got into gaming until I was around 16(nineteen now), besiedes HL and the only reason I got into it is that I had a lot of money to burn, and before 4 months I had a 1.6, 64RAM, computer with no graphics card :)

That's the issue. Humans are tolerable singly or in small groups. We tend to develop more of the mob conditioning as our numbers in any one area grow. This is true of forums as well. People that would not normally feel compelled to speak out find strength in the fact that they know their opinions will be backed up by someone.

Thing is, they're still just opinions. No right or wrong about them... they are just personal preferences made in accordance with your history. Hell, my mother likes onion sandwiches. I find that bizzare, but hey, whatever floats yer boat, hehe.

I still want to try both games. I think I'll have a very definite preference when all is said and done, but I bet I enjoy both.
I agree completely, our brains are simply not wired to properly work given the technology we have and the number of people we must co-exist with. We are too fast for our own good.

Onion sandwiches? bleh, not a pleasant thought. :x

Oh yeah, and if you think Doom 3 isn't scary, you're probably playing it with the lights on and a bunch of mates in the room or something.

That, or you're just very hard to scare.

Well, my father plays accordian, so I have a much higher fear tolerance than most. You go play Doom 3, then I'll send you a pic of my father in Liederhosen and let you decide which is more frightening. :)

Yeah, I'm kinda like you with opinions lol. BTW, RE:your sig, how was the Gunslinger saga? I read part of the first one and it was very dark... I just didn't like the setting. Might I reccomend Brave New World. Changes your perspective on life kind of..

The Dark Tower saga is the best book (I consider them one) I have ever laid my eyes upon (closly followed by To Kill Mockingbird). The last part is coming out Sept 21 and one of the best things that could happen is that HL2 comes out on the same day. I would be playing and reading at the same time.
I'll Try you're suggestion.

I have to say, after my first sit down, D3 doesn't sacre me. They've done all sorts of scare tactics, and I've jumped (more like.. twitched) twice in the past 10 hours of gaming.

It's still a great game, but it's no longer scary. When the station first got taken over, I was a little on edge, but as it's carried on, it hasn't been as tense feeling.

yeah. on edge and tense are better words to describe doom3, i wasn't 'scared' when i played, but i certainly wasn't as comfortable as prancing through a green meadow on a sunny day(not that i do that(often))

Press CTRL+ALT+~ to get into the console menu and then type com_showfps 1 to show fps (0 instead of 1 to turn it off).
tight i get 40 fps on med settings on with 800 x 600

I dont know how people cant get scared playing D3. Later in the game you are more used to the constant jumping out of shadows but early on its very frightening. I remember one part somewhere near the beginning of the game near a set of stairs and one of those jumping monkeys that throw fireballs jumped out of the stairs and made me jump so bad that I slapped the spacebar and accidently jumped into some flames and killed myself. Ive done things like that a lot cause im a very scareable person I guess and that I have my sound way up. Im not at the end yet but ive heard it gets scary there too.

Man, I know I'm getting old, I've lost touch with all that slang, and I'm only 19. Damn todays fast paced society.

Dude, tight has already come and gone. Way to keep up. :P Even I haven't heard this 'truck', though... must have just been a weirdo...

Damn, good to know that the enjoyment of gaming doesn't vanish once you turn 20. I've heard all those scary stories about marriage and kids. BRRRRRR.

Marriage is simply a more realistic variant of the Thief games.

Hide in the shadows..... wait ...wait.... wife walks by on the way to bed.

You creep past, open the fridge and grab a cold brew. Using your shirt you muffle the sound of escaping carbonation... *PSSSHT

A light comes on from the upper level! "Damn! The guard is alerted to my presence!"

Then you quaff your potion and sneak back to the room.

*shrug* It's all a game my friend.... you just have to keep an open mind about things. :)

i would take the club her in the back of the head and knock her out approach

People that get themselves into marriages where they can't have a hobby I'll never understand. :)

Make a good bumper sticker. You know the ones that say "I 'heart' my car", or some such lame thing.

How about "I 'club' my wife", or "I 'spade' my dog". Haven't come up with one for diamonds yet... but I'm bored enough to try.

This is the new slogan for diamonds that Peoples should use:

"Diamonds: that'll shut her up." Cruel but, oh so true.

Doom 3

"I attack... the darkness!"

lol... is that the reference I'm thinking of?

Anyway, I really like Doom 3. But I have to agree, D3 multiplayer is absolutely terrible. It's like they tried to simulate the effects of a dial-up modem for that classic Doom feel.
