HL2DM AlterNative!

Too bouncy. And you get stuck in every door if it's while jumping. I rather have just sprint on all the time. Still gonna wait for AG2.

I've said a couple of times I'm a lil confused about AG2 - AG's sucess was based around the fact that it added much needed features to HLDM.. AG2 may well be too different to HL2DM.

That said - do miss bunnyhop and gauss ;(

So I guess, in the end I just want AG2 :o, but this is quite nice to pass the time
 
So you are not just a simple Half-life 2 deathmatch mod?

Again the answer would really have to be no. There are already a couple of teams out there who are just simply adding deathmatch to HL2 without changing much, so if that is all you are after, then be sure to check those mods out. We on the other hand want to build as good a deathmatch game as we possibly can, and so will try not to let the base we are using limit us too much. We want a game that is not only great fun to play, but one that also has a lot of depth and longevity.

What makes you feel that you are qualified to build such a game?

AG2 is a mod that two of the team (Precizion and Bullit) have been thinking about building for a few years now (although that design has changed recently to bring it more in line with HL2), and so have had a lot of time to think on just what it is that makes a great deathmatch game. They will be putting everything they have learnt in that time in to making AG2 as good as they can.

It seems HL2DM Alternative isn't in competition with AG2. Taken from their site here. That description of AG2 is what made me excited about it, by the way... along with this:

Fast and Fluid Movement:
Bunnyhopping will be making a return in AG2, along with a couple of new tricks. When combined, they will make for some very fluid movement around the maps, making the game a joy to play even when only running around on an empty server.

If they could pull that off.... :bounce:
 
I think they can...some of the team have already mentioned that they've already added bunnyhopping and gaussjumping, but let me just quote mid_gen's (one of AG2's coders) post from the hlccl forums (www.hlccl.com)

Correction : they have 'released' something. Something which any half-competent programmer could knock out in about half an hour with the SDK.

I'm sure it's a great novelty to be able to bh after a fashion. It's also pretty nice gaussing/bhing around the new custom AG2 maps. Difference is we want to release a complete, polished product, not a half-arsed beta.

By all means enjoy it, but please don't try and use it as ammunition against the AG2 team. AG2 is light years ahead of this 'Alt3ERnaT1VE'.

It's this.

Adrenalin Gamer 1 was a slightly modified version of HLDM, with settings optimised for untold levels of 1337ness. AG2 is a game in its own right, with an equal emphasis on 1337 skillz.
 
Yeah tbh after reading mid_gen's post about AG2 I have renewed confidence in them :)
 
Maybe not continuous acceleration, but crouch overbouncing is better than nothing.

YOu mean the exploit to avoid being hit like normal crouch can be exploited? If so, how is that related to gain speed?
 
There is no alternative to DM. None whatsoever.
