In an exclusive interview we at StuffWeLike.com have had official confirmation that there will be a Half Life 3.We are not talking about Half Life 2: Episode 3 but a Half Life title after that one.
Our confirmation comes after taking with Doug Lombardi the guy responsible for all those PR pieces you have seen and read recently about Half Life 2: Episode 2. While discussing the game mechanics that run the Orange Box Portal game the topics of future games came up.

*Faints*

Of course, it will end in an epic battle Gman vs. Gordon.

well,
what if the Gman is on the Borealis?

I think the portal gun is there thats why Eli said that it must be destroyed because then the combine can go anywhere on earth. And I think thats how Gman gets around.

I nearly passed out when I saw the thread title and saw the *faints*. D:

Even though they throw the question, Lombardi dodges it with something else.

It's good enough news for me. It means there is much more past the Borealis making it more mysterious.

I would of thought though it would be more likely a Episode 4.

TS-SWL: Are there any current plans after Episode 3 to have a Half Life 3?

DL: We haven’t announced anything specific, but Half-Life won’t end at Episode Three – hang on to your crowbars!

I don't know about that one. might be just another expansion or something

still, it means that valve wont have to create a cheezy, crappy, rushed ending in Ep.3. they'll give us more. Me likey! :P

I thought it was common knowledge that Half Life won't end with Episode 3, Gabe said so not so long ago.

I want Adrian to be the new Protagonist in HL3, maybe the story starts with Adrian in that "confinement" thing? Then his story intertwines with Gordon and Alyx cause they both have the same "enemy", the G Man.

Yeesh. Of course HL isn't going to end with Episode 3. There's way too much potential in that universe for it to end in an installment just a few hours long.

Omgomg! Sure, it was obvious but...

You know that rush, just before you orgasm? When everything's really tense and you feel like your world's about to explode in an almighty internal fireworks display...?

I just had that...

Over a game.

Oh jeez, thank you for spoiling that Gordon doesn't die in EP3. ;(

EXACTLY!!!

like...visti combine home world(acording to that art from ep 3), unveil the Gamn, find the Borealis and marry Alnx in just 4 hours of game...please!!!

Valve are not known for punching people in the balls. Ending the half life francise on an episode, or come to that, anything other than the most mind blowing, balls tighteningly good, full size game would be a punch in the balls. HL3 is more inevitable than gods, or even danimals, wrath.
