Oh, I know all that. I have been thru there several times now. I have played thru the entire series too many times to count. Sure its a game, but it is immersive, like you are there and these people are some sort of virtual family. Many other players feel the same way by all the reading I done. If you are a casual game player, there is no attachment, no big deal, but I'm a confessed addict! You should calm down. Of course it's bad to see Alyx get hurt and you are very attached to her at this point, but not to the point that you just can't watch it and have to noclip through it. The vortigaunt says that her injuries are grave, that doesn't mean she is dead.
Geeeezzz, sorry I spoke up! Thought I could get something fun going here. Never mind then!Wtf is this thread about fido, there is nothing wrong with this scene. It is a very clever move for Valve, making the player get very attached to the character, so much so that you care about her when she is hurt, near death or is emotionally unset. This allows the game to trick your emotions into many different states. Think about it, as you said, this scene makes you want to kill the hunter that stabbed alyx, you also said that you hate this scene because it made you upset that she was hurt.
Heck, thats Valve for you. BTW, don't expect anything nicer in Episode 3, someone else is going to die, and I bet it is either Alyx or Mossman.
Episode 3, someone else is going to die,
in Episode 3, someone else is going to die
Removed. I guess I shoulda never bothered with this one.
