Hi,

I'd just like to know how I can create another profile in Half-life 2 for my brother to play the game without me losing all my progress so far and having to start again.

In other games, this was possible with a retail version, but I can't see how to do it in this game..?

Any help would be appreciated :)

.....

yes, the game is saved and i have all the chapters available to load up that I have done....

BUT if my brother starts the game from the first chapter, will i lose my progress so far i.e will it be overwritten, coz i wanna know before i let him do it, thats all, I'd rather check then possibly lose all my progress...

Try backing up your saved games when he plays and then back his saved games up when you play.

thanks

Cheers mate, a nice bit of lateral[us] (<--- a pun :)) thinking.... nice to see another APC fan on here ;)

Tell your brother to get his own Steam account. Then, he can log in and play HL2 under his Steamapps>hisname directory.

That will work, won't it?

If you quicksave them , they will disappear, if you save them "normally" they with remain.

It's simple. Save the game. What is so hard to understand? Saved games are not overwritten.

Yes, but non quick-saved games aren't, so his point stands. Also starting a new game does not remove the log of which chapter you reached, so even if your latest save file was lost, you can start from the last chapter you reached.

yes...

...and this is what i was getting at.... I didn't know which ones were overwritten and which were not. so if quicksaves are over written and normal ones aren't, my problem is solved.

I didn't find it HARD to understand Glossis, I was unsure and wanted to check before i lost my progress, THAT is what a forum is for i believe, asking questions.... what is so hard to understand about that?

No, this is not going to get into a stupid, petty arguement.
Leave it!

Quick-saves = get overwritten
'Normal' saves = won't get overwritten
Chapter progress will not get lost if you start a new game.

That is all.

Thanks mate, thats all i needed to know :) way too long for a quick question ;)
