As we have seen before, Valve dont care if the games get delayed or not.

So... How desperate could Valve be to prevent Vivendi from delaying the game?

They could simply sign another agreement saying they will not distribute it over Steam, but they, like Vivendi, are to intent on getting their way, so I doubt they will budge.

Valve do care if games are delayed or not. They'll care if a publisher is delaying it for no reason (at least, no valid reason).

Quick question...

would the six months start from now or from when they have the accepted rc??

From when the game goes Gold. Or "Final Milestone" as Vivendi refers to it.

As gabe once said
"We are willing to put another 10 million into this game and delay it for another year"
Trust me, there in no hurry.

I think you are wrong, VALVe do care about the game being delayed. Every delay will have a reason behind it, just wait for the Prima book to come out.

Then tell Valve to NOT distribute the game trough Steam! Anyway, do you guys REALLY want to download this game instead of buying it so you can OWN it?

I'm really getting sick of this. I'll have graduated 9th grade by the time the game comes out at this rate.

You own it either way. And Valve will not be so stupid to give up their big money beam-in machine steam. It is more probable that Vz is pissed off by an increasing popularity of steam and simply try to get their hands on these revenues.

-=Warning the following stuff is part-true and it has actual meaning to it=-

By the time the game comes The G-man will have no teeth and when Gordon needs his help he will be like "Hold you hoarses sonny" and gets his walking stick and take hours to get to Gordan and then I will have ice-cream in my pants and America will have a civil war followed by a brief World War 3 and then Russia bombs the crap out of America and then I will have more Ice-cream in my pants and then whn I get rid of the ice cream a were-wolf will attack me and then I will maul Gabe for deleying the game again if it happens and then make him a were-wolf then the diesease will spread and Santa will be like Muhahahahahaha while his little slaves make toys for all the little were-cubs...
Too late for me and that whole were-wolf thing but I havent mauled Gabe yet
and no I am not joking cause if I am I woudnt be a were-wolf now and I cant believe you are actually reading this and It would be cool if someone quoted this for thier sig. They can use anything I say as long as I am not getting offended at. I am typing alot today arent I? anyway I better get to the point. I hate it if the game gets deleyed again so anyway back to the... oh screw it you know what, another full moon is coming up so I might have to hide for a while.

Well if Valve knows that vivendi is just going to sit on the game for 6 weeks than I think Valve will be ticked. They said they want the game out as soon as possible.

No, valve DOES care if the game is delayed. Previously, they were intent on making the best game possible so it was alright for them to take time. But now the game is finished and they want to get it shipped

I think valve cares more about the gamers than vivendi does. To vivendi HL2 is simply an asset they want to take full advantage of, but it has been valve's baby for years. it and steam. I don't blame vavle for wanting to sell over steam. Steam is a new technology that has advanced internet distribution, and innovation shouldn't be stifled by greed of someone who had nothing to do with its development. Its like school yard rules. Valve has a nice delicious sandwich for lunch (steam) that it spent the morning making, but the big bully (vivendi) is trying to take it away from them for itself.

I think Vivendi probably care more about delaying than Valve. Valve arnt going to drop down steam and if Vivendi do do this silly little protest of it and hold the game till they cant no more then it will just piss Valve off more meaning they will want to get away from publishers faster. Other developers will also take note and they will also not bother with negotiating with publishers and get a source license and go through steam or use a different or there own online thingy.

I think people are just jumping to conclusions here. The statement said that VU have to release HL2 within 6 months according to the 2001 SPA. It doesnt even hint that they would delay or anything.
