how far do you actualy think hl2 has gotten?

i think they are playing it over and over to make shure it's just right.

Options two and three seem to be about the same, and they've already said that the game is more or less complete content-wise, anyway. It's bug fixin' now. Hence the intention they have of sending off an RC soon.

Valve said way back around E3 2004 that they had finished all the content, and were just playtesting and bugfixing. I'm sure by now they're either finished and optimising Source and CS:S, or they're going over the fine details.

I would assume it's only tweaking and very minor bug fixing at this point (if anything at all). I would guess the biggest hold up is with CS:S.
