I was just looking at various sites and they said that Microsoft sold 2.38 million on the first day. So i was wondering how many half life2 copies due you think might have been sold.

Over 2 million had it preloaded. If only half bothered to buy it, and then you add in the people that bought it at the stores, and the people who preordered and had it mailed to them, thats well well over 1 million.

i think that is very low for a game that could be the game of the year. I doubt whether valve will be able to sell enough games. They expect to sell 15 million games in three years time.

why do people come on and do nothing but make negative comments especially when they ave no clue at all what they are talking about?

you are comparing 2.38 million to 1 million. I think Halo 2 will get the game of the year award. Even though i have not played halo 2, i think halo2 is more popular compared to hl2. Because people know more about halo2 than about hl2.

plz show me the reference you are using for the 1 million number, bucause it obviously is just coming out your ass since HL2 hasnt even been out for a day...

I am not the one who made the comment on 1 million it was Dragoro. Ask him. It is not that i don't like hl2. i love it. Its just that i feel sad that it is not getting enough popularity it should have got.

I was giving an estimate of worse case scenario. I think its sold well over 2 milliion. Just look at how much bandwidth valve provided, and we still crashed their servers tryin to authenticate our games.

it's only been one day and when everyone finds out just how good it is, it will be plenty popular! lots of people may have thought it's just another game, since there's so many good ones coming out, but THIS game is something special, and i think there's no way to stop it.. the game speaks for itself!

Just wait . . . in a year from now I'd like to see the HL2 sales figures. And I'm sure a lot of people held off buying HL2 right now, because they wanted to see if it lived up to the hype or not.

Also people pre-ordered AND people are still waiting to buy the game because they don't have $$$ (AKA my friends).

Half-Life 2 was advertised solely on word-of-mouth and some net advertising... pretty damn good to get so much pre-orders and pre-loads, eh?

They spent the millions of ad dollars on making a better game and Microsoft spent it on advertising so Halo 2 wasn't much different from Halo. (Yay, add a few vehicles, update textures, few weapons, wonderful we made a whole new Halo).

I agree halo 2 is not that great. I think i am preety mad at the gamespot review by giving such a low score even though it got editors choice i think 9.2 is low i would have expected it to have got more. well hopefully it gets more popular and kick halo's ass.
