How many more episodes of Half Life will there be until they are done with the whole saga?

HL2 seems atm to be the only game in the "trilogy" to have Episodes, we'll have to wait and see what the future holds.

Yeah, gabe said there'd be three installments to the series.

Gabe never said there would be three installments. Valve had no idea where that assumption came from, except that it certainly wasn't true.

He actually did say it would be a trilogy, but that was way back in 2003. These things are subject to change. Nobody know if there will be an HL3 or not.

Ive never heard there was a trilogy either. but i still have a pc gamer that was published right after E3 2003, gabe says that things that they did not use in HL2 were being put straight into HL3. But i also think this was before the idea of episodic content came around. time will only tell

I'm pretty sure Valve confirmed that they didn't know where that came from.

There will be 4 episodes. 1 is finished, 2 is under development, the progress of 3 is unkown. 4 will be made by a third party developer.

I remember reading an interview with Gabe Newell at the release of HL2 in which he stated that there was going to be a HL3.

Yes, but Valve have not said that it's going to stop at HL3. It could go to HL4, or more.

But that doesn't mean it's going to be a trilogy.

As soon as Episode 1 is out of the door that team move onto 3.

Right now all we know is that we get a "What is Half-Life 3?" response (but its has been confirmed that it will exist) and that there are currently 4 episodes that we know will exist.

Bear in mind that Laidlaw has already laid out the entire story for the rest the HL universe around Gordon, beyond that Valve has some of the best intellecutal property to go out and fill in a whole bunch of the story with (think a game centered on the resistance).

They also commented on how there's so much more to tell in the Half-life universe with no idea how to get it all in.

In a recent PC GAMER. He confirmed there would be 4 episodes.

Correct. 98%

Here is the info when i read the info in my PCGAMER:

http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1825659#post1825659

He said that 2 teams are working on Half-Life 2 Episodes now. 1 Working on Ep1 another on Ep2. Once Team1 is done they will start work on Ep3 then once Team 2 is done with Ep2 they will help work on the Final Ep3 together. Which will conclude the story arc of Half-Life 2. Ep4 will be made by someone else and it will not be part of the Half-Life 2 story arc.

Your wrong in a recent PC GAMER. He confirmed there would be 4 episodes.

Your wrong in assuming I'm talking about the Episodes.

LATE! haha.

I edit my post before you typed that. :P I read your post wrong...

Do you think I'd get something like that wrong? Dude, I'm the biggest Valve fanboy going. :p

I would hope it ends at HL3. They'll cover a bunch of stuff in the episodes, than have a grand finale for the 3rd one.

And then DONE. Finito. Make another original IP.
