How to play HL2 online

im real new
i heard about this Steam and i have to purchase a package
but i actually own the HL2 game, so I don't need to get the game again
Anytiem I open Steam it says Buy Options
cant i just play?!

You already have HL2 so use the Steam account you created when you installed HL2 or something.

or go to Browse Games, and go to register a game i already own and put in the CD key

unfortunately, you have to download the files if you do that. the best thing to do is install HL2 from the CDs/DVD

Deemo speaks the truth. But in order to PLAY it, you need to create a Steam account and register the game.
