I found some really cool textures and want to use them in hammer. How do I get them imported so they show up in Hammer ?

Thanks!

That depends on what format they're in. If they're in the VTF format with a VMF file for each VTF, then just put them in the Materials folder of the game you're modding.

get photoshop, convert the texture to tga. then get the program vtf edit. use that to export the tga to vtf and create the vtm.

then place the im the materials folder.

sourcesdk_content/*hl2/materialsrc/woot/woot.tga

drag the tga to:

sourcesdk/bin/vtex.exe

**it converts is to:

hl2/materials/woot/woot.vtf

dodo disaproves of vtf edit
* cant remember if its "hl2" or "half-life 2"
** steam must be running

-dodo

vtf edit works fine, I had to google to find out how to make the vtm file, but I got it to load.

I tried vtex.exe, with Steam running, and I kept getting an error, it couldn't find the output folder then it said steam.dll was missing, and it isn't.

wait- i found it in vtf edit- all you need to do is convert a folder and direct it to your materials folder - it converts to tga and makes the files you need - takes seconds to do...

In photoshop you can batch convert files afaik.

Also, there is a plugin for photoshop that lets you save to .vtf

I used it to make my signature decal for one of my maps. It works fine.

However, you are going to have to make each .vmt manually.
