Whether HDR makes it in or not hasn't yet been decided. It's a feature that mainly the really high-end cards can use well and we have some other features we want to make sure get into the tech so that more people can benefit. If for some reason it doesn't make it for release, we'll be adding it in shortly after release.

Yes, and then everytime a new game came out, you would have to pay $1000 to get the latest hardware, otherwise it would run really horrible becouse it was designed only for the latest hardware.

geez go play some console games, you can't complain that idiot's don't have enough ram, so they had to dumb down the game for them.

When I said the card won't run the game, I meant the card I bought for Half-Life 2 won't be running Half-Life 2 on my machine because i'll have the X800 XT installed before I even get HL2. I didn't mean that a 9800 pro won't run HL2 (obviously).

I'm just annoyed that I upgraded when I didn't have to. I'm not rich either.

Ah yes, I agree those bastards who don't have much money and don't spend every extra cent on computer upgrades just don't deserve to play today's computer games. What are the developers thinking by catering to the general public anyway? You'd think they'd wise up and realize that the 5% of obsessed gamers with the latest hardware are the only one's that really matter anyway. Those damn people who can't afford the very latest upgrades just ruin it for us all don't they? Well said, indeed.

I'm not saying the games shouldnt be optimised to run good on old hardware too, I just hate the fact new technology should be sacrificed to minimize the visual difference between say DX7 and DX9 renderings of the games.

I'm upgrading for the next generation, but then again, I do have a P4 2.0 Ghz, GeForce 4 Ti4600 and 512mb of some crappy generic RAM, so I think I need an upgrade.

I don't have a console for the sole reason that I want the best graphics technology available, hence why i've bought an X800XT Platinum - It is also why I hate the way games developers 'remove' new technology from their games just so they can run better on 5-year-old systems.

I'm 18 and I payed for my system out of my own pocket. And I didn't spend "every last cent" on it either. I just happen to have a job.

I too will be getting an X800XT some time in the next three weeks and selling my 9800 Pro. I agree with you that tech shouldn't be cut just so that lower end players don't feel left out.

I mean seriously, if they included HDR and you guys without DX9 cards just had to switch it off, what would be the problem? Why are they leaving it out exactly? It just doesn't make much sense.

Anyway - don't be such begrudgers. I work hard and as a result I have the cash to pay for the things I want. The fact that I have a powerful system doesn't make me a horrible human being or an asshole. Honestly, grow up.

Without the discount it comes to $857.14. You might get a reasonable PC for that - but certainly not high-end. Anyway, I'm not having this argument since I just don't care enough.
