Im going from a 6800OC to 7800GT my new card has 256mb instead of 128mb
so.... can I put texture setting on max? or is that a ram thing? I only have 1gig right now, but my nxt paycheck is coming soon yay :D

you should be able to run just fine...now stop bragging :|

You should be able to get max settings... As long as the rest of your computer has decent enough specs.

Yah...the 7800 can own this game.

Observe.
At least over 100 FPS without AS or AA. Then even with them on its still good. :P

my specs are

evga 7800GT
evga mobo
amd64 3500 oc'ed
1gig Kingston HyperX soon 2 gigs)

the reason I got the 7800 is because "Fear" told me I dont have enough vid memory to run shadows on high :( that made me mad so I went to newegg.com they have this great deal 7800Gt /w free mobo^^
anyway friend of my dads will install it tonite...I will tell ye then how it went

Ram was a definate bottleneck for my x800xl, and once I upgraded to 2gigs from 1, all of the studdering I had disappeared.

I wonder if that will be my problem...

I've got a 2.8 P4..
X800 GTO
1 gig ram

I just bought another gig of ram...hoping to help me out..I have some serious problems on high textures..lots of stuttering.

How do you guys think BF2 will run? My roomate keeps assaulting me saying it's a waste of money etc etc...*sigh* He seems to think he has the most accurate information on anything EVER. Starting to bother me. When he ended up breaking my 160 gig HDD...then all this information about my car...he tried to get me to buy a $400 piece for my car that would stop the flooding issues, when I could just clean my Fuel Injectors....

Sorry to rant, it's obviously been bugging me.

An extra gig of RAM makes a world of difference, both in the loading and the texture department. I am glad I upgraded.

With a setup like that, an extra gig will make a large difference in newer games like BF2, Fear, and CoD2, but isn't really worth it if you don't play those. Another effect will be faster loading times some games.

I play FEAR, BF2, HL2...etc

Yay for it helping. Maybe I'll be able to finally play on all high settings and not lag!

Thats how much I payed for my gig stick of corsair on newegg... O_o

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
X850XT

It seems to run optimal atm.

My specs are...

6800GT
P4 2.4 GHz
768mb DDR Ram.

Why is it that i can't run this game on anything above low without having my computer shit itself? Especially when all other games can be run with everything on high? (with the exception of FEAR, which has the texture setting on Medium)

Mine did that with my 9600XT, and my 512 ram. After i got my extra 512, I was able to play alot better on medium, but didn't have a steady framerate, so I stuck it at low again.

I'm getting an extra 256mb of RAM so i'll have 1 gig soon. But it really shits me that the game can't perform well on a system with less than a gig of RAM.
