"There are two different type of character development: vertical and horizontal. Characters become more skilled through the vertical development," Kang told us. "On the other hand, they could develop various gameplay styles through horizontal development." Here's how it works: your character will have a concrete level. The cap, when the game launches, will be 50, and you gain levels by acquiring experience. You gain experience, mainly, from playing through PvE content -- the various quests or tasks available to you as a member of your faction. Apart from the sort of gratification that's oh-so-important in MMOs, levels give you access to actual skills: things like the ability to double-jump, to equip better armor and weapons, and the like.

\puts Huxely in my most wanted list.

Sounds like I'm going to need a warehouse full of 7800 GTX's connected to each other with SLI

Why is Huxely such a weird name? It is a real name of a character in the story...

I have yet to watch the videos though...at school atm.

Huxley looks awesome.

7,500th post.

i am intrigued
an FPS-MMO done right could mean the end of me

This and Tabula Rasa are gonna kick arse!
Weeeeeeee!

Wow! An MMO I might actually buy and pay for... too bad all I've got is an X800 XT, guess I won;t be getting all those spanky graphical features :(

Still, looks like it could be a lot of fun, especially with 5,000 per server

Yeah, and it just happens to be the name of the author of the book on which its based (Brave New World by Aldous Huxley).

Looks great. I like the idea of co-op and PvP at the same time.

During some of the PvE scenarios, members of the opposing faction might be able to sneak into the play area that your party is in, and do its best to foil your efforts. Kang wasn't too clear on how this would work -- like, whether opposing players would have similar objectives in these zones, or if they could simply elect to hop in and raise some hell -- but one thing is certain: if they do this right, it can make the act of questing just that much more interesting.

Interesting idd.

This doesn't seem like it's based that much on Brave New World, but that was a damn good book

I wonder if 360 and PC players'll be able to play together..
I might get this for me 360 atleast.

I don't think thatd work out too well...PC players would have a clear advantage, better control mainly.

Vigilante, apparently there will be both 360 and PC players on the same server.. "yay"..:)

"One of Huxley’s biggest features is the cross-platform gameplay between Xbox 360 and PC players."

Under the picture..
I hope they'll make some servers that can be exclusive for 360 players and some for PC players..
Otherwise as you say, PC players'll probably have a huge adventage(Unless it's VERY statsbased)

Ya ill be getting this. Looks really cool.

Great book, you're right, but...

Compelling source found here. Must be pretty loosely based on it or some ideas therein.
Yeah, VERY loosely based, but it would be nice to see them slip in some stuff from the book, since it was incredibly interesting. Would be nice to ahve a few nods for people that read it.

Will combat between high and low level characters really be balanced?
i was thinking that straight away after reading the quote in the first post; i can see this game having problems.

but yeah, sounds freaking awesome.

Damnit I barely have time for FPS's, let alone MMO's...

...but this game looks really fun.

Damn.

Eh, I don't know about it. It sure looks nice but I'm not a fan of MMO's.

Read it for yourself.
Even though it's based on a 73-year-old novel, this upcoming online first-person shooter has got a state-of-the-art next-generation graphics engine behind it.

A 1930s novel about a dystopian future based on eugenics and mind control wouldn't seem to be prime fodder for a game, but South Korean developer Webzen is going to take a crack at the idea with the really impressive-looking Huxley, an upcoming online first-person shooter scheduled to come out in 2006. The game, named after author Aldous Huxley and based on his most famous work, the 1932 novel Brave New World, was on display at Nvidia's unveiling of its latest GPU earlier this month. We've got the latest details.
