i am stuck--any ideas?

so i get to this point:

"King of the Antlions!"

"After the flight across the beach, you won't have much of a respite, as you'll immediately drop into a sandy area sans rock to walk on. As you might surmise, this is the scene of something of a boss fight, which pits you against an antlion bull. These are essentially just big antlions; instead of attempting to flight around and claw at you, it'll charge at you across the sand and butt you with its head."

But the antlion king does not see me or charge at me and when I kill it the alien does not come out and carry the body away and I cannot enter through the door to where I get the bug bombs...tame antlions...etc

even if I cheat through the door, the area does not populate and I cannot go on in the game? what do I do?

Try reloading the level or a savegame.

Reload from a previous save that isn't far away from where you are now. If that doesn't work (or you don't have any),I'm afraid you'll have to restart the chapter.

You had a slight glitch causing you to miss the trigger for the sequence. Follow the previous two poster's advice. This happens every now and then with the retail version of the game.

However, if it is a pirated version of the game, than reloading your last save isn't likely to work at all.

i have tried loading from a save, so i guess I should go back to a previous chapter. I bought the game legitimately, so that's not an issue. Problem is that my last save is really really far back in the game. Oh well. I hope there are more ideas.

Just start the same chapter your on right now, not the previous one..Also, you might try sv_cheats 1, then trying "notarget" and see if you can turn it off...It might be on

legit means legitimate, so legit versions refer to the real version.
