on the level after finding the car i think called ridding shotgun you can shoot your self out of the level useing the gnome. set the nome behind the car sorta underneth but not.then walk on the gnome and toward the car(must be tuching both the car and the gnome at the same time.

mind you it may only be the 360 release that it does this on

it should work, its just a physics glitch that happens when you try to force 2 objects together

I made my gnome into a rocket by forcing it into the cars back window and watching it shoot out.

It doesn't always get you killed. If there is a sufficiently high place nearby, you can just land on the top of it without taking too much damage.

Hasn't been foreseen that you should be able to do so, however - this way I ended up twice in places that were obviously "unfinished" - i.e., didn't have all the textures and had weird look with trees hanging in the air and the "floor" being transparent.

One such place was where you have to make an U-turn with the car, with several zombies and barnacles awaiting for you near a fire. The gnome-assisted jump threw me above the construct under which the zombies are hiding. It was transparent when looked from above - I could see them under me. Couldn't shoot them, though. The helicopter was also nowhere to be seen - although I could hear it.

However, I couldn't reproduce it with any other object - no matter whether it was destructable or not. Only the gnome seems to cause this effect.

Um... you're not supposed to see those textures. And considering it's a glitch, of course it wasn't forseen. It's "obviously unfinished", it serves no purpose to be complete. And no doubt you were looking at a skybox.
